Title: theres already thousands of them so one more cant hurt?
Post by: TForrest94 on December 10, 2013, 07:19:23 pm
Alright guys

Coilovers are on todays agende felt like making the already popular thread issue that little bit more popular so get involved

looking at grabbing a set for a cheeky crimbo present to myself for all the hard work being me but ive got choices

Id love a set of h & rs but that waayy out the question so i need to tone it down a bit

Its either budget or mid for me at the minute so Im looking at JOM or maybe Highsports for a middle ranged one
to counter this though there are AK along side JOM & vmaxx against Highsports?

So whose used what or knows anyone running the gear?

I Dont wanna slam the car to the ground its a daily so its more for sharper handling

ive got a limit of £400 so its go with the budget and get some other little things done or go mid and enjoy it for a while

Through some input my way is there a difference in budget and mid for road use? if so would it not be countered with budget and a WALK or some polybushing?

Cheers
Tommy :drinking:

Budget coilovers are a no no it am afraid. The ride is terrible and bouncy it will ruin the car. KW are very good and I have had them on my old corrado VR6 and they were amazing. A cheaper alternative is Weitec same manufacturer but cheaper.

Cannot reiterate the above enough, really would advise against cheap coilovers. I fitted a cheap set (cant remember brand but standard £250 ebay job) to my old MK4 and it ruined the car, looked great sat very low but the ride was terrible. I had them fitted at a local tuner, went to collect the car and thought wow, it looks amazing, then I drove it and thought oh no what have I done!

BTW i'm not averse to coilovers and lowered cars, previously had a skyline on kei office coilovers and an integra on cusco and they were fine.

To be fair, I'm on JOMs, and the ride is awesome for the price, especially considering they're wound all the way down.
You obviously get what you pay for, but then there's how much extra would you want you spend for the sake of a bit less bounce?
not worth the added expense for me, but it depends on your situation.

So APs are better than highsports?

I can strech to get them but its taking money out of my exhaust funds :/ part time work only gets you so far

My advice would be to get good coilovers or not bother and wait to get more funds

I'd go for a matched spring/damper kit such as H&R or Bilstein.

There going to be alot better than cheapo coilovers!!

+1 to both the above, don't do cheap coils  - wait until you can do it properly, or to spend less, get some good matched springs/dampers.

Think I'm gonna go with high sports they seem to be spot on for what I need in terms of price and capability, unless there is a sale which will drop aps in the near future? There car it's gonna be slammed in anyway it's for for tightening everything really and going with high sports will let me finish my cat back sooner and start saving for a map and paint

Do you know when this will be roughly. Just had a quick look and they are reduced to 360 but they are 340 on venom normally will they go further or is that it?

As mentioned above does any one know if any other stockist will be having sales soon or early new year?

Her words, not mine!!!  :popcornsoda:

I have been in cars with FK coilovers and let me tell you they are VERY hard plus they are fixed rate spring where as JOMs are progressive spring.
I'm not going to say anything as people will only listen / not listen and be happy / complain anyway so people can buy what they want.

Still wont answer his phone but likes to text alot.
His add for the kit said he was selling his golf then he posts on this topic looking at coil overs sorta says it all

If you have his address take him to small claims court, it's easy as filling in a form online.
