Hi Folks,
I am a new-bee on here and it is a great site by the way!
I think I've got the standard RCD 300 in my Ed 30...n it don't sound all that great.
Was after a little help.....should I go for the kenwood DNX520VBT or the RNS510?
So confusing about which version of RNS510 I should be looking for....
Thanks :happy2:

It depends on your budget & requirements.
I out that Kenwood in my mates T5.1 and took it out again after 6 weeks to put the DNX521DAB in which is a far superior unit.
With an RNS510 you get great integration, but chances are you need n updated CAN gateway to prevent battery drain and you get a satnav that can't do audible speed camera warnings. Then you need to buy a bluetooth/FISCON kit for handsfree unless you have an external kit.

Thanks SKARD. :happy2:
Tbh I'm after better sound.
Budget in cir of 600.
The kenwood 521 will that not cause battery drain?
My ed is 2007 model so I am I right in assuming this is the model year which requires CAN gateway.upgrade to prevent battery drain?
Thanks

You don't get battery drain with aftermarket, only third generation OEM HU's like RNS315/510/RCD510.
All of these have much better sound than a RCD300.
2007 is the crossover year, I would guess you have a K gateway (mine did) but later revisions of the K don't suffer battery drain, depending on software installed. Confusing I know, but if you have L or above then nothing to worry about.
As for the 520VBT, don't pay over £400 for one, they go on ebay for £350-400, my mate got the 521DAB at your upper budget but you need to be sharp when they come up for sale at that price.

I will keep a look out for the 521 then.
