Post by: mk4gti-t on December 15, 2013, 10:30:53 am
I know this has probably been covered many times but i just want to make sure i know what i am doing before i take the plunge

The gateway currently in my 2005 05 gti is a 1K0 907 530 E - what unit do i need to avoid battery drain?

Im ok with vcds so what settings do i need to change if any?

Finally can i run my ipod off the RCD510 and if so how?

Thanks chaps  :happy2:

Thanks  :happy2:

I currently have a multichanger under the armrest and will probably leave it there. I will just run a cable to the glove box or cubby by the steering wheel for my ipod to sit in if thats possible.

Oh just seen you can get track info etc to display on highline clocks, do i need the mdi interface for this? So many options  :signLOL:

Did you manage to get hold of Eddie-NL as I have the dreaded battery drain issues too. I'm having trouble finding a gateway with the correct version (L or above I believe) and also someone local that can re-programme it for me. I've tried both my local VW independents and they can't help.

Off out to re-fit my RDC300  :sad1:

I'll happily vouch for Eddies work. I paid for a pre coded gateway and mdi woring loom and they were in my possession the next day and worked flawlessly.  :congrats:

Eddie, I'd love to talk with you about this as I'd like to buy one, as well as get your advice on getting the existing Parrot 3100 to work too.  How can I contact you?

I don't appear to be able to send PMs?  Sorry, I'm new here

Eddie, meant to contact you earlier but Christmas got in the way.

I've fitted the can bus and all working fine i.e, no battery drain. However, I now have an airbag fault light.

I've checked all the cables and can't see anything obvious, although I did read somewhere that pushing the drivers seat all the way back sometimes throws up a fault, but I can't check without the software I guess. I'm thinking I might try and tap up a local forum member with the right gear to check it as your a bit too far away and I don't really want to take it out again.

I also had the drivers door panel off as I replaced the bass speaker so I may have disturbed something there I guess, although I don't think there are airbags in the door.

Any advice welcome.

If its a 3dr its 99% likely to be the under seat wiring as you say!  :happy2:

Mine's a five door. I'll see if I can get a local forum member to help me out and clear the error with VCDS.

cheers  :happy2:
