Title: GTi front end sticker.
Post by: skriller on December 17, 2013, 03:28:02 pm
OK guys when I purchased my beast it had the entire front end and the wing mirrors covered with a large see through protective sticker.

Now, do I remove this sticker in the summer and clean the hell out of the area underneath (the rest of the car is shinier as a result of the sticker) or do I leave it be?

What are peoples thoughts on these bumper sticker covers? I don't do a lot of motorways so I cant see it being left on, if its just to prevent stone chips and used on the motorways.

Any advice appreciated.  :happy2:

if its protection film it claims to be removable without damage to the paint bellow , the key to getting it off is the temperature try a warm sunny day or better still a warm garage and a heat gun and take your time plenty of heat but don't focus it as you'll end you burning the paint , after its off you'll be lucky if you don't need a machine polish to balance the paint you wont know till you remove it good luck

so two things plenty of heat and take your time  :happy2:

Hmm, well it is in sections, so I might try the heat gun method first, its gonna be a while until we get any kind of heat from that good ole sky above.

So I can find out from just one small section whether its going to need a good buffing or not, I was afraid of this when I bought it.

I will add pics if anyone is interested once I get to it, just in case anyone else was thinking about long term stickers or covers.

A hair dryer will be fine
It will probably need polishing up to ensure the colour is correct it depends on the colour... reds probably, black/silver, not really.
Not really a big issue either way.
