The brakes on my GTI are terrible to say the least!
The drums are rusty though, so they are definitely in need of an upgrade.
What discs/drums do people on here recommend that fit with little hassle?
Whilst searching I've realised a lot of people speak of S3 brakes and APRacing.

What power is your gti producing? I kept the oe brakes (discs & pads) on my stage 2+ OctyVRS and never had an issue with braking. I didn't track day my car so didn't feel they needed upgrading for the road.

Standard power, but imo your brakes can never be good enough so I would like to upgrade rather than replace with OEM.

Get decent disc and pads. Brembo disc with yellow stuff ebc or ferodo ds2500 pads and you will be sorted. No point if your not going over stage 2+.

TBH,it's not worth getting a full on BBK if yr not going to track the car,updated pads & discs will do the job,another alternative is the nqsbbk..very good for the money..

Hi mate, I recently fitted the audi S3 front set up.
calipers, carriers, bolts, retaining clips, discs, pads (new R32 ones), R32 dust shields and HEL braided lines with fluid for £505 inc VAT and delivery :happy2: really good set up if I'm honest he braking is seriously good especially with the back roads I live down :driver:

I had a contact to get yellow stuff at 50% retail so tried them on two cars. On one car they gave horrid low temp bite and inconsistent track performance. The other car they lasted less than a whole track day, where on a previous outing the OE lasted and worked better.
Have since tried various pads and I'm currently running RS4-2 on the Golf, and a mix of RS14 and DS2500 on the other cars. OE pads on the Golf took a surprising amount of grief on track, and are cheap to replace.

Well it sounds like your getting chinesse replica tbh. I had them on few cars before and they were really good at low temperatures with tarox disc or zimmermann. Bit more dusty but overall very good. The ferodo ds2500 are awesome pads. Genuine OE are worth it as mentioned above as they can outlast...unless you use them on track and coock them...as even genuine brakes will fail and I ve seen it on 61plate A4A TFSI on autobahn. Stop dead from 160mph..and they were well and truly f....

Bought direct from EBC - Andy Freeman? Friend was sponsored by them, hence the cut price. Sadly I can't recommend them, else I'd be still using them as they were very cheap.
