first thing you need to do is get a scan done

then while they have it plugged in do a basic setting reset on the dsg box http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,24158.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,24158.0.html)

Dan..

DSG oil should be changed every 40k
Check your service book to see if it's been done

I am still learning about the dsg box so someone might have a better way

I would get it scanned check error codes if any the delete them
then I would reset the dsg basic settings
drive the recommended dsg basic setting amount to see if it still flashing and so on
then scan again

then if still doing it a trip to vw

I would not spend any money on it till I have had it scanned

people on here have the software to scan the car for you normally for a drink myself included

here is a list of people http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html)

DSG oil and filter should be every 40k, priced £179 at VW now.

As above, would not do anything until you have it scanned, often the dsg box reset can cure faults.

It may not be the mechatronics unit, but think others have had an issue with the selector/shifter unit (apologise if i have this term wrong).

So you have an idea on price my mechatronics unit was changed 12mths ago under warranty and it was approx £1,850.

I would guess at the selector/sensor. That usually is flagged up by the flashing PRNDS.

You say it is fine if you use it in "D" No harsh up or downshifts ? Doesn't sound like a mechatronic issue, Could be the stick itself.... Don't guess the worst all the time get it scanned
