Might have got a bit carried away!!!!
http://goo.gl/maps/7aeiY
Pics to follow! :happy2:
-
Yikes, all I've been doing is nursing a hang over... I bet teh roads were clear!
-
Yeah. I was kind of nursing one too until I got to the top of the Cairngorms!! :jumping:
Hardly anyone on the roads so das GTI got a little workout. Great roads up there. :driver:
-
Thats my neck of the woods. The road from Inverness to Fort William is ace when there is minimal traffic, alot of unmarked coppers around there though. The bypass from the B9007 from Forres to Carbridge is awesome as well!

Is that just an old lay-by behind the car!. Looks like it could be a lot of fun on that piece of land. :driver:
-
It's a carpark for the "ski area"
-
Excellent pics Rich
-
Its good watching the Lochs in action at Fort Augustus. We've been down there a few times now.

Where is this Dam?

Sure I have drove over that Dam or one similiar to that one near me
-
The dam is here. ( can't drive over this one) hydro electric built in 1934 by British aluminium

Just one of the things I stumbled upon. It's really great to just drive and discover with no real plan.
All the roads up there are perfect for the GTI. Not too complex that it shows the chassis weaknesses, but fun and lots of opportunity to stretch it's legs safely. The car performed perfectly, still very much a keeper!

Great pics rich :happy2: one of my favourite places this, I often rent a boat and go through here for a couple of days with family. Fort Augustus is great to watch, but pulling your boat through it with 200 Japanese tourists crowded round is a little tedious. Great place, great car
-
Awesome Rich! :happy2:
-
Thanks chaps.
Wardy... yeah I imagine that would be a total PITA. I recommend new years day then.... it was deserted!
-
Quality road trip!!! Bet that was a tiring trip all in one day!
Happy new Year :happy2:

Wasnt to bad really... worst bit was the bit from Perth-Edinburgh on the way back. Torrential rain = standing water = aquaplaning :scared:
-
Good effort Rich!
-
Tomintoul to granton of Spey is one of my favourite bits of road for a play!
-
Cracking drive Rich. :) We should do some drive outs this summer! :chicken:
-
Quality drive
I have not done a road trip ( not for business in years)
You did well to find super fuel
-
I used some of the same roads a few years ago - spectacular. Google says 8 hours and 20 mins; care to 'fess up? !

Well. 8hours, but I was stopping quite a lot.

Awesome. Did something similar across Wales a couple of months back in the M-Lite. Same weekend as the WRC, so most the roads were desserted.

Seems a lot of guys on here would rather keep the miles down on their GTI's and spend a day polishing rather than driving them - at least it helps to keep the roads quiet for the rest of us :driver:

Doesnt take into account the 2.5 hours it took me to get there and 2.5 hours back. :signLOL: I had to get back home to feed the dogs, was still out for 9-10 hours though.
