Title: What's battery drain prob with early golfs ? And what is a canbus thing?I'm new

As title , new to the golf scene , and keep seeing people saying about changing stereos for early golfs causes battery drain ?and to change the canbus ? What is the canbus lol and what do I need to avoid the drain ? I've got a 2005 golf and was looking at changing the stereo but this is now worrying me

Best to use the search function as there are waaaaaaay too many posts on this. In essence. As your car is a 2005 mobile, if you will need a gateway if you want to replace the existing stereo with a VW head unit like the RNS510. If you are going down the aftermarket route, a new gateway is not needed.
