Title: Engine light after stage 2 with dp and cat **SOLVED**
Post by: Aparoon on September 23, 2009, 11:35:34 am
I had my downpipe and sports cat fitted on Monday and have uploaded stage 2, as i went to work the other night i noticed that my engine light was on? The cars driving completely fine i only noticed the light as i pulled up, is this likely to be something to do with the new cat?

I have just found on another search that the larger diameter dp and the lower cell cat can stop the temperature getting high enough which in turn causes the 02 sensor to throw a code, does that sound about right to anyone?

It says that i can clear the light via vag com if that is the case but it may continue to throw it unless i get the map tweaked, Im bf stage 2  :happy2:

Before recommending anything I would want to know what the actual fault code was that's causing the CEL.

It can come on for a lot of things but I drove around for several weeks on the standard map with dp and cat with no problems.

Once you get the codes post them on here and check http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Category:Fault_Codes.

I have just got the codes using my bf handset (v useful), they are p0139 and p2195, they both relate to the os sensor  :happy2:

Could be that a new sensor is in order if that is the case, but I am no expert.

the guy who i bought my pipewerx exhaust off had the same problem also using bluefin stage 2.

ill find the link for you in a bit, but i believe one of the sensor bungs in the exhaust was blanked off for some reason which pipewerx explained and he drilled it through, solving the problem

Thanks for those replies and links. I think the issue was due to the fact that i drove home with the dp and cat on whilst running stage 1 which doesnt account for the sensor issues, i then uploaded stage 2 but it was too late by then. I have spoke to superchips and they say that stage 2 is setup to deal with the sensor issues so now i have cleared the codes the engine light has dissapeared and should not be an issue again

I can't agree with that. I drove with stage 1 and full Milltek dp and cat for months.

It was only after the Superchips RR day that I changed and since then I have done around 3 weeks with the standard map.

Whose dp and cat have you got? 100 or 200 CEL?

Its a pipewerx dp with 200 cell cat. I dont know then either but the car is running fine, the light came on after the dp and cat was fitted and the dtcs related to the o2 sensor?? I will see if the light comes back on after when i drive to work...

might be worth sending an email to pipewerx asking if oneo f the sensorholes is plugged, and if that could be the cause, it solved it with my DP

The light came back on the next day after i cleared the dtc's. I spoke with Ian at Pipewerx and he knew what the problem was straight away, he had drilled and bunged a hole after the cat and then placed the o2 sensor in another position about 6inches down, he told me to swap the 2 over which i have done and the problem is solved  :jumpmove: :jumpmove:

I also took a few pics (although sh*t ones) whilst under the car if anyone is interested?
