I have not long bought a rcd510 to fit after I've sorted out the can gateway, however I really want to fit a USB and or aux socket to one of the empty spaces beside the esp button. Can anyone help me out with this, any help would be great. I'm a newbie :happy2:

You will need http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-AUX-SWITCH-AUX-CABLE-for-RCD510-RCD310-RCD300-GOLF-MK6-Bora-Sagitar-Tiguan-/161083078753?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item25814cb861#ht_1957wt_1162 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-AUX-SWITCH-AUX-CABLE-for-RCD510-RCD310-RCD300-GOLF-MK6-Bora-Sagitar-Tiguan-/161083078753?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item25814cb861#ht_1957wt_1162)

Thanks , so does this just slot into the back of the RCD510?
-
Correct. Simply plugs into the quad lock plug. Dead easy :)
-
Nice one. Great to see something is just plug and play after the can gateway haha.
-
Tell me about it.

There are 2 options if you need a USB input. You can either go for the RCD with the built in multimedia interface (those that have a dedicated USB port in the back of the unit and support the USB switch in the ESP area) or the one that can only support USB through the MDI module, which costs extra. The AUX switch should work the same in both cases.

Yeh I was looking into the mdi kit but I reckon I'll just go for the aux, will look quite smart + original if I get that switch. Not keen on having random wires anywhere haha

Both options you mention are Chinese head units which do not show UK radio station names.

I actually bought one of those a few weeks back before my head unit came. So now I have a useless USB switch

Chinese units have the USB port and European ones have the MDI option. The Chinese versions don't have RDS so they won't show radio messages, European units will.
