Title: Off abroad... but keeping the Ed30
Post by: illyun on September 23, 2009, 04:44:10 pm
I haven't bee here for a while as its been so busy over here at work and the travel from Amsterdam to Ipswich is really doing my head in - I'm driving a Mk4 GTI.  Took the Mk4 to Denmark last Friday for a friend's wedding and the coilpacks went just as I apporached the Germany-Denmark border  - sod's law.  I still managed to make it to Aero Island just off the Denmark mainland and then drive back the car to the UK the next day/night (800+ miles and took 13 hours).   Just could not accelerate - 0-60 in one minute - as the car would judder and shake violently... currently convalescing at the local VW dealer.

Anyway... I have just landed another job abroad... this time in Saudi Arabia and while there is no way I can even contemplate selling the Ed30, I will be selling bits and pieces including the custom Detroits that Greenouse used to own (he has first dibs though, just in case he wants them back)  The Ed30 will be going into storage along with the Mk1 Campaign.

Hi Steve... no problem.  They are still exactly in the same condition as they were when Greenouse had them - went straight into the garage and have stayed there ever since.  But I'll send some pics later today  :happy2:

....

Really, really happy to hear you've got some work again, Nadeem!

Hope to hear from you again when you're visiting the UK. Or you could be the forum's Saudi car correspondent!

How long is your contract?

Great to hear you've got a more permanent post Nadeem and good to see you back on here too :happy2:

Just joined you today in Bilsteinland with some B16 PSS10's on the motor :happy2:

You simply have to keep the cars Nadeem, anything less would be awful!

No problem... you can have the Michelin PS2s when they wear out.  A bargain at only £50 each.  They were £150 each brand new  :P

Thanks John.... the Bilsteins are superb.  I am def keeping the Mk1 and Mk5.  I suspect that I will be able to get another Mk2 16v in 3-4 years time, even if the prices go up.

Would you like my engine oil too?  I can ask my local dealer to put it into a container when they service it... you can have that for free because I'm so generous.  :booty:

I do prefer the shiny finish that Nathan had done, rather then the matt finish of the Monza's. The Red edge will go well on my red Car i feel, although looks like the wheel Whore is after his wheels back  :sad1:

Really need someone thats good with photoshop to see what they would look like on my car.

Technical Project Manager... apart from that I haven't a clue what the job actually entails.  Had an interview in May this year and didn't really expect to hear back.  Then I got the job I am doing now in Holland as a Network Architect and was offered an extension until December and would have liked to have stayed but the company department I am working for in UPC Nederlands has run out of budget until February and I didn't really want to wait and see if I had a job or not post December.
