Title: Headlights and bulbs
Post by: Leonpettit on January 11, 2014, 09:28:01 am
Right...I'm going to order a set of Depo projector headlights this week and I am considering a HID as well.

Having never had a HID kit I'm not sure what Kelvin rating to get. I'm looking for a white light, so I thought 5000K. Is this about right? I've had a look around and seen a lot of 6000K but some seem white and others a lot more blue.

Been looking at some on carmodshop, but I've never used them: http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/35wcanh7-6k-h7-xenon-hid-conversion-kit-canbus-6000k.html

Also looked at HIDs Direct and they are a similar price. I checked out HIDs4U but they were double the price, are they worth it?

With HIDs being a legal grey spot has anyone had any issues with their insurance?

Does anyone have any sidelights they recommend too?

Thanks.

4300-4800 is what OEM manufacturers use.
The point of upgrading lights is, to me, to improve visibility at night. You'd want to get a 4300k HID kit as these will provide the most light onto the road and give that nice crisp white Xenon light.
Ignore people online saying 6k is white , 4300k is noticeably white with a blue tinge.

6k is blue and for people who drive Corsa's IMO
