Title: Bought and ED30 today
Post by: Liam0205 on January 11, 2014, 07:55:27 pm
Hi

Been on here a few months now but not posted a lot but finally bought an ED30 today so as you can imagine I'm buzzing

Steel Grey, DSG, 07 plate, its standard apart from a Milltek exhaust and dont really have any plans to modify at the minute

I'm new to Golfs and TBH hi performance cars in general but can finally afford one after years on looking at others with envy.

I'm learning the basics from friends and this forum so may have some stupid questions to ask in the near future.  :happy2:

Theres not really a need to mod it from standard , the ICE might be poor if you have the basic set up and can be improved quite cheaply

A remap will get you about 280 plus bhp with no other additions , bluefin is easy to put on and take off .

I got a bluefin to see the change that people were raving about , it does make a great difference but hardly useable on the road , so haven't had it on since first putting it on . 230bhp is plenty , too easy to get caught breaking the speed limit  :innocent:

You will love it

Welcome! Sounds a great car - certainly the best colour for an ED30 in my opinion!

I said the same when I joined - the ED30 as standard would be enough. Now I'm buying all the bits for stage 2+  :ashamed:

Thanks everyone. I'm a couple of days in and still loving it.

Short term plans are to have the wheels refurbished and that's about it.

Already thinking about a remap though haha

Yours are retrofitted or they're xenon lookalikes. Looks good though!  :happy2:

So I'm trying to work out if mine are Xenons or Lookalikes, how can a newbie tell????

One of the easiest ways is to check the rocker wheels near the headlight switch. If yours has a wheel for beam height adjustment, then the Xenons are retrofitted.

Cars with factory Xenons don't have this - only the rocker wheel for the interior light brightness.

Still, lovely example you've bought
