I have a part number which is 1J0973713G. This is the male part of the plug which connects to the EGR valve on my engine (BMN). I am wondering if any of our ETKA experts would be able to see if there was a female half. I am basically wanting to make a blank to keep water and dirt out as it is currently not connected to anything.
Thanks.

Think you will find it comes as a whole part of the EGR and cant be bought

Possibly so but this connector is used for various other things and not only as an egr connector. My thinking was that there must be a female version used somewhere. My other alternative was to find a cheap egr valve to see if I could make something up from that.
-
Just get a cheap one and cut the bit off,
-
I'm afraid to say that etka is giving no mating connector for this, just how it is sometimes, must just be made only to fit your valve thing

I assume this is what you've gothttp://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/1J0973713G-6-Way-Sealed-Female-Connector_123446557.html (http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/1J0973713G-6-Way-Sealed-Female-Connector_123446557.html) not as you've described as male.
Ask them if they can offer you the male end to go into your existing female plug
-
Yes that's what I have. I did look at a photo before I posted but couldn't make my mind up whether it was male or female haha. But yes it the end that would plug into this that would do me :happy2:

Look at this 1j0 973 833 on Google images.
Flat contact housing coupling element price - £2.68 full retail inc vat from TPS

Yeah one of those might work. Here is a picture of the EGR. It has the raised locating guide but if it doesn't have this I can't see it being an issue.

I think what would be the job is protective cap - 6H0 971 921 A - £2.40 inc vat
However, I haven't found an image to confirm - see if you can find an image but it's cheap enough.

Well done Viking :congrats:
Well I can see what you mean there then!
Well that puts me thinking it's 1j0 973 833 as quoted previously unless you can find something Viking?

Righto. OP has part number 1J0 973 713G. And wants the corresponding plug to blank it off.
So...

Fantastic. Thanks for the help everyone. I knew it would take some time to figure out. I will get one ordered and report back :happy2:
-
Bear in mind it's an open ended connector plug so where the wires go into the back end will be a hole. Best fill it with silicone to keep water out.

Yeah this was my plan. Either silicone or Araldite :happy2:

Just want to say thanks to Doylebros and Viking for helping identify a suitable plug. Collected it today but found it needed to be modded slightly.
This is the EGR plug. You can see the top right hand corner is squared off.

And this is the plug as it came.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FMatt.H%2FInternet%2FIMAG1219_zps218df056.jpg&hash=69632953f7c1ff6c8cea9516d598e46905149b0b)
So cut a piece out to allow it to fit plus shortened it and removed the lugs.

Sealed with silicone.
