hi peeps.
my fuel range going down quickly soon as i put my fuel in,its mk5 golf gti, ive always bean to the same petrol station.
is there a way i can reset it or do anything. thanks
-
So you put fuel in. This I have understood.
Oh and you always put fuel in, from the same garage.
Are you saying the car is using more fuel than usual?
How does your mpg compare to normal? How different is it?
-
yes ive put fuel in from same p,station, and fuel consumption is around 27mpg.....
-
27mpg seems ok....
-
yes but it seems the fuel range goes down quickly?
is there away i can reset it?
-
Are you filling up small amounts to keep it out of the red, or full tanks?

The "range" changes with your driving style.
Explain the problem in more detail.
-
right i always put £40 in and do normal driveing and the od foot down but not much, and i travel to b,ham to redditch every day.
-
And what's the problem? Try typing in full clear English so we can understand you. :fighting2:
-
I'm out.
-
So from what i can understand - Your MPG isn't what it used to be? You drive from Birmingham to Redditch and back each day, you fill up £40 worth from the same petrol station each time and you average 27 MPG
Hell i wish i averaged 27..
Is the car modified at all?
-
Try another petty station maybe? I notice better fuel economy with v power.
The range changes with your driving style. If you will floor it the range will go down. If you drive light footed it will go up again.

yes you are right but its the fuel range is concerning me.and its standard
-
Drive your car less and the range will stay hi?
Or put more fuel in and the range will go up...
or buy a diesel...
-
ok thanks
-
As other people have said, the fuel range is determined by your driving style at that time, if you've floored it for the last 5 minutes then the range will recalculate to show you the range if you were to continue flooring it
Ultimately the range will constantly be recalculated depending on what you are doing
-
well ive not done fast driving just normal driving and thats what im asking for, cause its going down quite fast...
is there any way to reset it or not ...plzzz

The reason why no one has answered if there is a way to reset it is because there is not and we are trying to establish The actual issue from the basic info you supplied.

Have you tried seeing how far you get on the mileage rather than the range setting?
Find that can vary alot, where as trip when you put in £40, see how many miles you do. Then next time do the same and compare.

thats fine ill try that .
thanks guys for your help..

It is difficult to understand what your problem is.
So as a general rule, you put £40 in and the range will increase by approx 200 miles. After 200 miles have passed it's back to where you started. Are you saying you put £40 in, range says 200 miles and after much less than 200 miles you are back to where you started?

Or he puts £40 in and it says 100miles.

GOD please speak in English and some sort of structure to your sentences.
As mentioned your range recalculates as you drive.
I filled up this morning and it said 375 miles of range left.
I drove 120 miles or so and my range still says 400.
MY PETROL IS RISING PLEASE HELP ME.

Just lol.

sorry guys
when i put £40 in its says range 240 and soon as i drive with in ten mins it goes down 15miles on range.sorry again.....

Technically if you do 70mph, you would cover 11.7 miles in the 10 minutes you mentioned.
As the display goes up/down in increments of 5 i would say it would round up to 15, therefore you have nothing to worry about and what you stated is actually correct.
-
wow ok.
thankyou once again :happy2:

I dont get what everyone is whinging about i can understand what hes exactly trying to say. I think this is a grammar forum sometimes.
My car does this too, Sometimes i will drive 30 miles light footed and acheive 25-30mpg but the fuel range would have gone down 40 -50 miles. So i kept filling up and noting how many miles it gave me in the tank and i would reset the trip computer and work it out after a week and it was never really that far out. I also noticed that sometimes i will travel 30 miles and it would only take 20 miles off the range. Id take it with a pinch of salt. Apolagies for any mis-spelt words, im afraid i was too busy persuing women in school rather than concentrating :happy2:
-
you got it
thanks :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

If you set everything to 0 and fill your tank it wil give you a predicted milage range based on your last spell of driving (its clever you see).
If you have just been driving steady on the motorway and achieving lets say 35mpg, when you fill up it will say a predicted range of lets say 400miles. You will only achieve the 400 miles if you drive like you are frighten of killing flies.
If you have been on track all day (killing flies) and fill the tank it will say that you will have around 200 miles to your tank.
your car is constantly calculating your range based on your mpg. Less mpg and your range will fall, higher mpg and your range will increase. :happy2:

thank you very much...... :happy2:
