Title: VW Paintwork Warranty
Post by: diazbtn on January 13, 2014, 10:33:28 am
Hi all,

My Pirelli has a small paintwork issue on the roof where the lacquer has cracked, its about 3cm x 1cm, it doesn't look like the roof has been re-sprayed, but what's the deal with the warranty on the golf??

I would upload a pic, but I can't figure out how to do that (which is embarrassing as I work in IT...what a  :rolleye:
My problem is now I am in Sunny Spain, so not sure how to explain this to the dealership??

Any suggestions?? cheers

Paintwork warranty is three years. Does that make a difference?

Holy crap, never seen that on Mk5 before, you would hope to have some help off VW for that.

The paintwork warranty is for three years though. Pirelli edition is probably 5 years old now so it's gonna be way outside of paintwork warranty, and into goodwill. If it's had something caustic on it (bird poo or suchlike) then it's not a paintwork issue at all, it's physical damage or neglect, and I doubt goodwill will help.

Yup the Pirelli is late 2008 plate, its only done 39k and was one owner before me who worked at the VW dealership, so although it may have happened I can't believe that the car was mistreated, its very tidy, it was like this when I purchased the car, in real life its only about 2.5 cm in size, the Nokia 920 takes pretty good pics!
I look after the car pretty well, and this is the only place like it, although the roof has what looks like a stone chip above the window but its down to the metal and the same on the right wing, a couple of spots where paint is missing, I have checked and all the panels are original, its HPI clean and I can't see any overspray or anything to indicate a repair to the vehicle, so not sure about the paint on the car was 100% from factory which is why I asked, it's a pity paintwork is only warrantied for 3 years, that's pretty crap I think :)

Cheers fellas for the help, I will try asking in my pigeon Spanish and see what happens, although I reckon I know........

I thought the paintwork warranty was 10 years?

Yeah and they don't honour that either. :sad1:
