Title: Mk6 door skin - Removable or not?

As the title. Can the outer door skin on the mk6 be removed like it can on the mk5?

Yes it can its virtually identical to mk5

NO it cant be reomved, its a full door

they only did that on the mk5 for some reason

Have just given my mate at TPS a call and he confirmed it has a full door and NOT a removeable skin.

Bummer!

The girlfriends mk6 needs a door painting as its chipped paint right off the edge. I was hoping the skin could be removed so it could be painted properly.

EDIT: It seems it might be VIN dependant. Earlier mk6's having the removable skin and later ones having a full door. Abit more investigation is needed I think.

Sorry about that, didn't really check thought would be same as mk5, just checked etka now I'm home and yeah amazingly its a whole door.

just checked from 2009 onward on ETKA and all are solid doors, so i'd defo say the other guys are right on this 450 quid for the door as opposed to 188 for the skin on the MK5

Have a look at these 2 links. This is what made me think they were possibly VIN dependant. Unless the earlier one is for a very late mk5.

with a new mk5 door skin though you need the two plastic strips, these need bonding onto the new skin...total pita

The first link you've posted is the end of run of the mk5 the second is the start of the mk6.

There exactly the same pages I get on etka
