Title: Passenger side air con & reverse?
Post by: nc35 on September 25, 2009, 07:09:12 am
Ok weird one.

When I select reverse DSG box the fan blower for the passenger side incresese slightly.
Thought I was going mad, but finally confirmed by passenger.

Anyone else noticed this?

Cheers

iirc all mk5`s do this,  when reverse is selected the blower goes into re-circ mode so no engine fumes are sucked inside when reversing.   im sure someone will confirm  :happy2:

Yep. If you stop the car and put the handbrake on with the fans on, again, it'll go into recirc mode to stop you sucking in the fumes of the car in front.

What an amazing idea.
Is this unique to the VAG group?
Never been able to hear this in any other car.  First modern golf since MK2.

Is this the same thing that happens when you use the windscreen washers? Ive noticed the fans get louder when you spray the washers! Maybe that is the same? so you dont get any windscreen fluid smells, the fans go into ricirc mode.....very clever sh&t :jumpmove:
