Title: Xenon headlight retrofit - wire routing
Post by: Degudodger on January 16, 2014, 09:32:36 pm
I plan to fit some Xenon headlights this weekend (weather permitting) and I would like to know how others have routed the cable from the passenger headlight to the CCM.

Is running under the slam panel then down the wing to the firewall better than having it go behind the engine?

Hi,

I'm just about to buy some myself...why do you need to re-wire anything? Are they not plug and play?

To activate the shutters you will need a Kufatec 10-12 pin adapter (comes as a pair) with a wire running from each headlight to the respective headlight wiring plug in the CCM under the dash. The headlights will also need to be coded with VCDS otherwise they tend to flicker.

I ran the wire round the back of the engine and in through the firewall near the brake pedal..

As stupid as it sounds, i thought heat from the turbo may damage the cable especially as its not that well insulated.

There's a little grommet behind the glove box, I run mine through there, but you'll need to take the glove box out ( 2 minute job)

Damn...I didn't know this!

Do you have a link for how and where these wires will need to go?
