When I facelifted my A3, I got D2S bulbs from HIDSdirect.co.uk exactly the same as OEM Audi bulbs but cost me £40 instead of £300, there is somewhere I've found £80 for the Phillips bulbs, I'd have to dig it out.

Cool. Where did you guys mount the ballast control unit? To the headlight or to the chassis?

I got a 35w 4300 H7 kit from HIDsdirect and it was cack and never really worked properly, swapped it out for a 35w 5000 H7 kit from HIDS4U which has been spot on. Mounted the ballast to the side of the back of the headlamp unit (I would have put it under where it should go, but ballast was too big). This is with Depo projecter lights so plug and play for H7's. Matched with OEM style W5W normal Osram sidelight bulbs to look as OEM as possible.
