Trawling the trader and the premium on white gti's is madness, you'll pay between £2-3k more. What's all that about? I know white cars are in at the minute but that’s is just ridiculous!
What was the premium on white paint new?
-
Same as metallic I believe?
-
It was free :signLOL: white rules simple
-
What a bonus to all you white boys! (if purchased from new).
-
It was the only colour I liked at the time on the mk5 gti so it was the first thing I ordered
-
I don't like the white at all just feels like a van when your sitting in them looking out
Looked at one before buying my own and a clean car, but put me in mind of a van thought it looked cheap.
As for price there is no real difference between them as we all like different colours.
Same topic could be opened for the red as I along with most like it but again worth no more money.

No it couldn't , White is a sought after colour (more than any other) and people are willing to pay extra for them , proven time and time again on here and elsewhere

feel like a van :signLOL: you do know vans come in grey too :rolleye: i don't like grey as it looks like a rep mobile/dull :P
-
It's not just gti's mate, most hot hatches & performance cars are too
-
surprised at the 2-3K premium comment , some colours do seem to carry more money not just white I think but as I've got a white GTI would have said a 1K premium was nearer the mark and I hope I'm wrong and your right :happy2:
its all about supply and demand , I also think GTI's second hand prices are holding up better than many other cars out there atm

Yeah mate,especially the ed30s & Pirellis
-
Mmm might be a good time to sell then if you have a white gti as I keep thinking of selling mine
-
I agree about the crazy premiums on colours.. its just another marketing con for traders in my opinion.. white and red seem to have higher prices from what i've noticed since i was told that these two colours are "In"
-
Saying that.. Someone has already said its cause these colours are in demand.. plus traders or in fact any seller has to make money some how and i suppose this is just one of them tactic ploys that obviously works so why not.. Many others would do the same if it meant a bit of extra paper in your back pocket

White is a sought after colour (more than any other, love it ..what ever you think :happy2:) Its just a fad and white dates so fast.

that white gti on autotrader is TOP money
but looking better for me as mine clocked 60k today
Rob
-
Yip that gti on the link is massively overpriced and a bad example as a comparison for that reason to be fair.
You should be getting an edition 30 for that money
I estimate the premium at roughly 800-1000 on average, and to be honest it's a bargain for the fastest and bestest colour

That white gti in the second link has been up for around 7 month even more, I rang that when looking for a white gti the salesman keep ringing day and night and it has been serviced at Kwik fit  ha. There's is something about white performance cars that I love wether white is the 'in' colour or not I like white sporty cars.

^^^^^^^
I don't think so, a colour is a colour it will never have its day. If you like white you like white and that's it.
I will say though I think white has came through and become more and more popular because of the changing lines of cars and the reduction in black plastic side mouldings, because of this I think white looks best on many modern cars. I'm no white fan boy but there is not much new metal out there that I don't think white would be in my top 3 choices.
For instance top colours for cars IMO
Golf R
1) blue
2) White
3) Silver
Edition 30
1) black
2) Red
3) White
E90 M3
1) White
2) red
3) Black
Old cars
mk2 Golf
1) Black
2) helios Blue
3) BBM
4) Oak Green
5) White
E30 M3
1) black
2) Red
3) champagne
4) grey
5) white
if I won the lottery tomorrow I'd be straight out and buying myself a white Lamborghini.

White Ferrari 458 for me, see one in the flesh recently, awesome!
-
I would desperately love my GTI to be white! In my opinion they look the nicest! But when I was buying I found them much more expensive as well :(
How much does it cost to wrap a golf?
-
Green is the next hot colour according to future trend spotters.
-
I think white carries the premium as they are actually a rarer colour in a mk5 shape. Think how many silver / black / red / blue golfs you see. And when was the last time you saw a white one?
