Title: Rns 510 aux ???
Post by: Mk5jake on January 18, 2014, 12:32:50 pm
Hello I have an rns510 installed in my edition 30 by the previous owner, it's got an aux option on the menu but I can't find a lead in the car anywhere so I assume it hasn't got one fitted,

my question is can I fit an aux lead myself ?  Is it a simple job ?

Also is it possible to fit a subwoofer to the rns510 as I'm not overly impressed with the sound of the bass

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Jake

Hi Jake

It's normally in the front if the armrest if fitted, or just on the inside if it's the storage version. Quite easy to fit, just the aux input button (well jack button) and cable run to the back of the unit. I have even seen aux that can go in place of one of the blanks in front of the gearstick

It might be the lead was either removed by the previous owner or it has been tucked away somewhere. Might be worth taking the head unit out and checking there is actually a lead connected.

When I fit an RNS510 to my matc spec car with the ipod dock, it didnt work at first, when I pressed the AUX button on the screen.
Then double pressed CD and selected CD 6 fron the list and the dock was working, however, sound quality was poor.
The earth positions in the wiring harness are different on the standard head unit and the RNS510, its as simple as slipping the wire out of one port and into another, no splicing needed, just swapping earth wires around.
I cant remember exactly which ports the wires were swapped to and from, whne I did my car, but I just researched it and found results on google.
