Title: Power
Post by: Gra on January 22, 2014, 01:12:15 am
What sort of power increase would you expect from a stage 1 on a pirelli ? Keep thinking about it but not sure as I don't want problems with the car etc

Approx 300 on a stage 1

Do it mate, will totally transform the car... Torque spikes are what ruin the clutch and give traction issues... If possible get a linear map, you will still have all the power and torque but it will laid on smoother.

You don't mention whether you are manual or DSG...

It also a good idea to take a look at the condition of your DV, easy check on K04 in the engine bay, 3 bolts, 5 mins on and off.  I'd also look at the cam follower for piece of mind...

The K04 turbo in the Pirelli is good for ~400bhp so you're well away from its max at a stage 1 tune... And the Pirelli engine is stronger than a normal GTI...  Stage 1 is well, well within safety limits.

Only thing is, you'll need a brake upgrade when you increase by 70break or so... R32/Golf R etc callys are a favourite.
Get down to rTech for the proper checks and one of the best maps for your car. :happy2:

Something is clearly not right with your car if it's a Pirelli with revo stage 1.

It was within JKM's expectations for this map, albeit at the lower end of the range. Obviously not as aggressive mapping as some . It's stage 2 now with other hardware upgrades making 313. DSG box will be mapped as soon as map is available, 325 is expected then.
I think preference of the tuner has something to do with it. My turbo currently is running at 65% duty so it (and other parts) are having a relatively easy life.

Then there's the issue of dyno accuracy...
I believe JKM's is stringent, it's certainly repeatable. It only ever gets measured there which is what matters since the measuring device shouldn't be changed if correct monitoring is required.

I am stage 1 on my ed30 with 303bhp with a rtech map...... on my way home my clutch was slipping!

As discussed before some stage 1's will slip some wont and the same with stage 2 its just luck of the draw!!
HELIX CLUTCH AND SMF will set you back £900 just in parts

cheers for the replies lads,
its a manual would that make much difference?
i was thinking of taking it down AMD in lakeside around march time for a stage one.
have been looking at  GSB DV+ diverter valve for when i do the stage one would it be better to run that one or run the rev G?
so running about 300bhp would be perfectly safe allround ie gearbox etc also whats this about the cam follower?
maybe i should just pop to amd and speak to them as so many ppl recommend different type of maps and it gets all abit confuseing lol
cheers lads :happy2:

I would stick with the G valve it's proven time after time to get the results 450lbft 400hp+ and they still work fine.  Only time I have had boost issues arise from DV was from running a D valve and sorry to say a GFB dv+.   I would also check the PCV one way valve to make sure it shut closed if not then it will bleed off power and make turbo work harder.
