Title: Advice needed
Post by: Leigh200sx on January 30, 2014, 08:43:40 am
Hi there I'm looking at replacing my mfsw and heater controller for mk6 ones, question is will everything work straight away or will it need coding ..

Not sure on the steering wheel - would think no for that.

The heater control will depending on your year of manufacture to do some basic settings.

However, it would be best practice to scan your vehicle before and after any retro fit work,to check and clear DTCs and check all works as it should! :happy2:

My car is a 2006 gti with factory options of a mfsw, cruise control, high line dash, dual zone climate and heated seats ...I am doing a deal with a local lad who has the mk6 ones fitted to his car but he is trading it in so wants my parts in the deal...

Like I said the heater panel can be a pain if yours has the Econ/Ac button rather than Auto/Ac button for for climatic system!

Doyle is slightly incorrect but basically right. Early VW Golfs had an Econ button than an AC button. The idea was the AC was always on unless you hit the ECONomy button, when it would turn off. Later changed to a simple AC button so you know when it's on and off.

Hence it will say ECON/AUTO or AC/AUTO.

My other mk5 has a different one again and it doesn't have  dual button??

Odd. I have seen pics of climate controls with no DUAL marking where the button normally is.

It's a early 2004 model probably one of the first ones
