Post by: SteveS on September 28, 2009, 12:21:01 pm

could be the heat but then you would think Vw would have tested the to death so you may have just picked some stray stones up on your travels.

stones,... thats what im hoping vw dont blame it on, however, the situ of them seems rather unlikely, 5 or so cracks a few mm under each other down the side? seems very unlikel to me

Blimey, thats booking in advance!!!. No one sat or lent against the headlight steve?.Mind you, xenons do get rather hot so perhaps heat/stress cracking is possible.

there is no damage to the metal at all, and there is no chunks out of it like something has been shoved in, so i dont think so.

Out of interest can they just replace the casing or is it a whole new unit?

both of mine have a big crack at the top....slowly spreading.

i actually think its caused by the continuos slamming of the bonnet actually thats made it crack rather than heat issue from the xenons themselves.

ah well...they still work so i'm leaving them alone.
