Hi all,
I fitted a mfsw into my 2008 Golf Gti today. I exchanged the steering wheel controller from 1K0-953-549-CA to 1K0-953-549-BK and added a brand new cruise control stalk at the same time. Have VCDS and I coded everything as per guides.
I have 2 issues.
1/ The mfsw won't skip to next track on my RNS510, the up and down buttons do move me through menus so I know that they are working. I fitted the RNS510 not long ago, maybe that is coded incorrectly as my right stalk does not skip tracks either, infact whilst I'm at it, something seems wrong because I seem to have to have the volume turned way, maybe that is something else entirely ?
2/ The cruise control is just not working at all - no cruise light comes on, it's as if it's just not there. I coded the wheel for cruise and I coded the ECU for cruise as well - alas - nought :(
Anyone have any ideas I can try ?
Much appreciated.
Cheers,
D

have you got a Highline trip computer?
also the cruise, have you tried taking the car for a drive to test it
-
Hi Eddie,
Full height MFD, pardon my ignorance but that is highline computer right ? :|
Tried to activate CC on the move but nothing happened.
Funnily enough I just came across one of your posts about the track - I'll toggle shortpress to see if that sorts it.
CC, though - that is confusing me.
On another note, that telephone kit you supplied me is the business mate ;)
-
Ok, one down - one to go.
Had to 'remove' shortpress and then reboot the RNS, now I can skip tracks as expected - weird.
The cruise control has got me stumped though.
Only thing I can think of is that the instruction that came with the cc says select engine and Login - which is greyed out for me. Instead I went through basic and set 'Cruise Control installed'.
Cheers,
D

is your car a GTI?
if it is you need long coding and tick the box for cruise control
-
Hi, yes it's a gti.
In the long coding at Byte 6 I ticked bit 0 "Cruise Control installed".
-
so the last three digits of the coding are 160
-
Yes, 160.
I'm going to take a run in the car in a while and then scan for errors - see if something is causing the issue.
-
Feel daft now - it's working fine.
In my defence, our 06 Touran has cruise and it works slightly differently - In the Touran I can turn on cruise whilst stationary and the green light comes on. In my 08 Golf, the light doesn't come on until I turn on cruise and hold one of the stalk rocker buttons, this is what led me to believe it not to be working.
So - now I have every optional extra I can think of except xenons which I promised myself were too expensive and not worth the effort.... hmm
Thanks for jumping in to assist Eddie.
