Title: DAB aerial into a Jetta.
Post by: Viking on February 04, 2014, 10:52:40 pm
Gonna be replacing my RNS510 with a newer DAB version sometime soon, and I'll need a DAB aerial of course. I'm not about to start drilling holes in the roof, or suffering mag mounts, so I reckon it's either a screen aerial or perhaps there's a DAB add on for the rear screen.

Any ideas, what's best bang for buck, and best signal etc.

Cheers.

To keep it OEM, I would use http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Oem-DAB-Aerial-With-Fakra-Extension-Cable-6m-Rns510-Dab-Rcd510-Rns315-/281256733991?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item417c352d27 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Oem-DAB-Aerial-With-Fakra-Extension-Cable-6m-Rns510-Dab-Rcd510-Rns315-/281256733991?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item417c352d27)

Best bang for buck but not so stealthily http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOLEADS-DAB-AA1-DAB-FILM-GLASS-MOUNT-PATCH-DAB-ANTENNA-AERIAL-SMA-CONNECTOR-/380597649044?pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_PortableAudio_Radios&hash=item589d633e94 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOLEADS-DAB-AA1-DAB-FILM-GLASS-MOUNT-PATCH-DAB-ANTENNA-AERIAL-SMA-CONNECTOR-/380597649044?pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_PortableAudio_Radios&hash=item589d633e94)

Thanks, I'd already bookmarked those two particular ones, but really I was looking for a recommendation from someone who'd done the rear screen one. Unfortunately, most people have the roof mount on the Golf so not much has been done on the rear screen. I'm not even sure if the rear screen has a DAB aerial wired in.

However, it may be incidental as I installed the new DAB unit last night and it's not finding any satellites so looks like it might be going back.

Ive done the rear screen one in mine. It works perfectly only thing you need to do is remove the ends from the leads supplied and replace with your own. Also the mounting is different so i improvised with some hot melt glue.
