Very nice TDI mate. OEM styling FTW   :notworthy:

You just need the GTI headlights and R32/Ed30 tail lights  to finish it off nicely.  :happy2:

(Or get some LaminX)

Don't know if I'm any good at cutting  it to size etc though lol

Pre cut ones are really expensive though.

Your car looks mint.

Nice car bud. Bit more lows now and you will be sorted  :happy2:

Monte, did your headlights have the black bezel in them to begin with? Im looking into doing mine with the lamin x but there the chrome finish on the inside of them and wondering how it will look with the tint. I cant seem to find genuine hella gti headlights and im not going for the aftermarket ones ive heard bad things about beam pattern.

Nicely done!

It looks like your list of desired mods is similar to mine haha  I had the GTI front and R32 rear done already and I was going to get the side skirts done but a very reasonably priced set of BBS CH's came up for sale a few streets down the road from me so I ended up spending my cash on those instead.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on with tinting standard headlights if you decide to give it a go.

Post by: Gazmufc87 on May 20, 2014, 05:12:13 pm
New R32 style miltek catback supplied and fitted by awsome gti I had a long life one on before just the back box removed and 2 inch pipe onto the original system.

Was not pleased with it and had a loss of torque the miltek is miles better power is now back.

Only thing It does sit really low which I knew but it's seems to be sitting more low than others I've seen.

Don't know if it's the ppcb bumper as it doesn't seem to bas deep as oe r32 bumpers (might just be me) or the car is not lowered by much just edbach pro springs?

A few quick pics

From what I've seen the Miltek ones do sit very low.  IIRC someone one here using air ride had to remove theirs because when they lowered it right down it was dragging the floor.

Anyone know how to get the miltek sitting higher there seems to be a lot space to move it up do you reckon it's worth taking back to awsome regarding the fitting?

Some suggestions I've had are shorter brackets etc.

There a unused  original mount still there if that was removed there's a lot of space to move it up.

think it could go pub bit but you will still see some of it-I have the same issue with my Ed 30 back box of which milltek have now realised a shallow  one.You could do what Nav has done and get it power coated black

Yeah mines only a few weeks old so should surley be the newer version it did have to be ordered in first.

I don't mind seeing some of it but at the moment I can see all of it lol.

Don't know if theses replica r32 bumpers are as deep as the genuine ones? That could be a issue aswell.

Looking great Gaz, but the box does look a bit low. Maybe all millteks are the same though.

I think if I had your system I would have to paint the big shiny box part in matt black VHT paint, so you just look at the tips  :happy2:

or

You should have got Nige at BCS to sort you out mate  :innocent:

Yeah they all seem to sit low.

I've already taken it back to awsome and they tried to get it a little higher(actually a bracket had come of) so that was sorted and the tailpipes sit more flush.
But the box is still very visible.
I'm still concerned about the rear bumper not being the same size as the real ones?.

Update for my car.

Fitted a genuine r32 rear as was never happy with the way my replica one fitted with miltek.

My concerns with the bumper were correct as the genuine one sits much better.

Had the bumper freshly painted as had a few deep scratches but had a brand new lower section.

Swapped over my reflectors and purchased a toe eye cover from dealers.

Next came the wheels I wanted a change from my monzas and I came across a near New set of 19 inch bbs lm replicas in mart black with polished lips.

Long drive upto Nottingham to get them.

Some phone pics below.

Looks very good. Like the wheel choice, 19's look great, but how do you find the rubber band tyres in terms of comfort?
Genuine bumper looks like such a better fit, isn't it a shame manufacturers of copy parts can't copy properly!

Hi thanks for the comments.

really surprised by the 19s pretty much no difference in comfort compared to my 18s.

one thing though you can defiantly tell the difference in weight compared to my 18 inch Monza's  (but I was expecting that )

Yeah massive difference in bumpers the replica one was a popular brand but I found it to be nothing like the size and fit of a genuine one.

Sounds good.

Hopefully works out will find out tommorow

Keep reading about it some people say there's no difference some say there is.

Hopefully there is looking at the difference compared to standard.

No not at all.

I got it directly form the erisin website.

They have a uk warehouse so quick delivery no customs plus easier to return for any warranty issues.

Plus you can select the latest models for the same price they sell old ones for on ebay.

What's the sound quality like coming from this unit? I have a Kenwood which is lacking somewhat in the audio side of stereo duties. Does it have many connections at the rear for running an amplifier (pre-amp output)?

Yeah has pretty much every connection going for subs etc.

Sound quality seems fine you can mess with all the frequencies with the eq (don't have a clue what I'm doing though)

Before I fitted it I purchased a twin adapter with built in amplifier for the radio as it only comes with a single to keep good reception.
