at low speeds when breaking and driving forwards i get a loud ish knocking noise from the front of the car..
any ideas where i can check apart from the obvious
Steering rack?
-
Sounds like the same problem red Robin had, i think it was something knocking on his anti roll bar. :happy2:

Does it do it just the once on start up?
-
Is it from the front left?
If so it's sounds the same as one of current klonking noises being looked at on mine :sad1:

just once and seems to be coming from driver side... could be wrong though
i have just put up with it.. the car is still doing this

....
Sorry not to chip in earlier - I've just seen this thread.
My clunking sound was very difficult to find the cause of but VWR eventually discovered it was a failed front wishbone bush - You'd probably have to drop the wishbone to see the problem.
It wasn't anti-roll bar related as some people thought and helpfully suggested.

My Cupra has the clunk when changing the direction the car last braked. If I move forward and apply the brakes, then reverse (like you do when parking) I hear a clunk. I figure the anti rattle springs may be the cause, however like cuprak1, I have put up with it until I can get it looked at.

yeah Pum sounds like same issue as mine, i think red robin might of hit the nail on head. ill get the powerflex bushes and see what happens

^^^^
If this info helps, my clunking only happened when the suspension got loaded on that side but sound travels and can fool you about its exact source.
