I REALLY want to stay GTR but i would end up getting the Porker
-
Gtr for me I'm afraid :innocent:
-
To save you the headache, give it all to me :innocent:
Has to be GTR for me
Rich
-
Yeah, I be down the Porsche garage. Probably get a 4S.
-
GTR is so accomplished but Pork all the way.
-
GTR is so accomplished but Pork all the way.
........yeah we know that but which car would you pick? :popcornsoda:
-
GTR will always be an awesome car but a Porsche turbo is something very special and you will always be left with a Porsche 911 and not a Nissan :signLOL:
-
Before you look to much at the GTR, check out the running costs..
My boss at work is on a silly amount of money and he found the running costs for one too high.
I think a lot of people are going to come unstuck if they dont look into it. Cos that is ALOT of car for £35k.

Would like to see how that compares to a 997 Turbo..hardly cheap to run either.
-
Porsche for me! GTR has crap interior!
Paul
-
Porsche, smaller so easier to hustle down country lanes, and cheaper running costs than the GTR.
Wouldn't say no to either, and both with a remap are stupidly quick. GTR gearboxes are weak though so you would have to factor in costs to upgrade that even when just mapped it seems. All my mates with GTR's have had to have gearbox work done (one even had 3 new gearboxes)
-
Porsche ADL. Nissan maybe fast(er) but interior is awful and its a Nissan.
The Porsche is a, PORSCHE.
-
I would imagine the Porsche be more reliable.
And I know for a fact that the paint on Black GTRs is TERRIBLE. It's so soft a stiff breeze would put swirl marks on it.
Very horrible to live with.
That being said, I'd rather have a GTR to drive. Porsches are very capable, sure, but ultimately dull.
-
Frankfurter for me
-
997 Turbo for me, and I didn't realise they'd got to that sort of money.....off to the classifieds!
-
Porsche all day long, but I'm old
-
I would probably go for some cancelled orders on the Mk7 Golf R ..... bargains to be had I reckon
-
I hasten to add its not for me :( - a weekend car for my brother with some mid week duties.
Personally, I've always loved the shape of the GTR, but seeing as the 997TT is in the same price ballpark, it would take a lot of love for the Nissan to walk away from the Porker. I think some test drives are in order!

Gtr for me
911 looks the same since it was built

Why change something if it's not broken and looks so bloody good
-
would have to do the GTR itch first everyone got to own an r35 one day

Porsche dull?? These are one of the most capable cars ever made and best drivers cars. Unlike GTR which company made Almera and Primera as well :-)

Name one thing exciting about the Porsche?
The GTR has some amazing electronics, being of the Playstation generation I find that sort of stuff really interesting, I like to see my boost pressure and G meters on a cool TV screen, and I'm in no doubt it is a faster car around a track.
At the end of the day the Porsche is just a modern twist on a flawed design, based on a VW Beetle. A very capable car indeed (as I said..??) but it does not simply excite me at all. I take the car for what it's worth rather than what other products the manufacturer make. Need I remind you Porsche make the Cayenne which is hideous.
-
Dude... go and drive a Porsche.. you will "get it" in about 30 seconds! :notworthy: No doubt that the GTR is a fine machine and there are some high power ones knocking around that will show pretty much any car a clean pair of heels, but... Pork is Pork!
-
Flawed design :signLOL: having owned old Vw beetles and driven loads of 911 trust me they drive nothing like each other oh and the grip a 911 has is crazy they are fantastic
-
can you get a good/clean 997 for 30-35k though? last time i looked they where fetching £££££ for a good one? was a little back though
-
Drive a Porsche, and you will be amazed at how good it actually is, even such simple things as steering feel. It's so communicative and compared to the the VAG sh*te we are driving, being behind the wheel of a Porsche from a VAG is like going from analogue TV to HD.
It's just artistry, I swear I could cry everytime time I got to drive my mates, it's just filled me with emotion and joy lol.
The only draw back I could conclude from it though, is that the Porsche could get tiring over long distances. But my god what a car.
TBH we can't make the decision for the OP's brother, I'm sure once he's driven both he will know exactly which one he prefers. Both are awesome, both are basically as fast as each other, and both have a good road presence and will now hold their value fairly well. (Unlike a new Golf R no matter what deal they give you)
-
Porsche for me , gtr is a big car.
-
GTR for me
-
997 turbo all day long
-
Id hate to think how much the porcshe running/servicing would cost as i do a lot of miles a day to work, the GTR would be a lot less money to run

I dont know for certain but I think you might be surprised at the cost of the GTR servicing. Yes its a Datsun... but it wont be Datsun servicing prices.
-
Far from Sunny 120Y servicing costs if David Yu of Evo notoriety is anything to go by. :surprised: :scared:
-
How about waiting for the mk7 golf r evo? im pretty sure the specification will be groundbreaking. Im guessing new there gonna cost at least £40k but after a year or two ... who knows
-
A Golf R Evo cannot be compared to a 997 turbo or GTR, otherwise he might aswell buy a TTRS+ S-tronic, as it's same power, same weight, same 4wd system of the rumoured GolfR Evo
-
Golf R Evo if it happens will never be a Porsche 911 Turbo.
-
Whats the current 0-60 on a mk7 golf r around 4.7 secs @ just under 300bhp.. i really have high hopes for the evo! Imagine if they manage to shed .7 secs on a Golf! lol
-
ok it might be a boring 4 pot engine with an average soundtrack but you would have crazy performance and VAG running costs, as much as id like the Nissan GTR as my next car is seriously debating the R
-
Surely a v8 r8 has to be taken into consideration?
-
Not for 30-35k
-
I was speaking to a guy that said it cost him 17k to run a GTR for a year !
Mega bucks ! He came to a focus RS meet as he was looking to get rid in favour of an RS.
I took him for a shot in mine and he loved it - he took me for a shot in his GTR and I was absolutely blown away, deffo the fastest thing I've been in. I'd still take the 911 turbo though, infact I'd even take the carrera S the running costs of the GTR are in comparison to living in a castle !
-

Bit slow compared to the other two though
-
2011 onwards have a lot better servicing, running costs as the early 2009 year gtrs were mental to run. Obv never going to be cheap to run a 500bhp car tho with those capabilities. But would have to be an early one for 30-35k.

Aston V8 Vantage?

E9x M3 with competition pack.

Theres alot more to a car than its acceleration times , unless your 19 that is :innocent:
-
Aston V8 Vantage?
Poor mans Aston , not that special in my eyes compared to the Porsche :innocent:
