Title: Name of this mod and how to get it
Post by: carljackson on February 09, 2014, 03:18:15 pm
I have seen many of you guys with this mod on you're car and I would like to know how i can get this onto my standard headlights. Is there a part I need to buy and if so can you provide me with a link please thanks

I am reffering to the white side lights, I went to someone which has a VAGCOM but they couldn't do it for me seen as my headlights don't have anything inside that section in order for it to be programmed its basically empty. I would like to know if anyone has any good links/places on where I can buy this daytime running light mod please drool

Are you on about the white sidelight?  Or the  orange?
As 'flufgti' said it's done on vagcom which allows the American look.. A few people also get orange side light bulbs to make it more visible

Depending where you are there's a fair few people on here that can then them on for you

It's the US spec look called DRL daytime running light mod done with VAGCOM.

I have mine set to 50%. Be careful when you take it for MOT as they might fail you for it. I had to explain to my MOT tester what it was and why it was doing it as they were worried about it affecting the visibility of the indicators.

Is it only a Xenon thing?

I hope not!  :fighting:

The orange is the indicator bulb set with vagcom and the white is just the side lights.

It looks better on xenons as both lights are at the bottom of the headlight so makes it appear to be a whole strip of pith at the bottom.

It is programable on halogen type headlights, it just doesn't look as good as xenons.

Only xenons have the sidelight next to the indicator. Halogens have them in the high beam. Most you can do is the short indicator section on halogens.

S4NUP Yes this is what I wanted to know, I was confused on why only the indicator section could light up after being programmed and wanted to know if there was a led strip I could buy online so the whole indicator section could light up. So I'm guessing the only alternative of getting the full section to light up is by buying xenons right?

Oh ok thanks for you're help guys. Sorry but I didn't make my question very clear, I had to edit it in the end :notworthy:
