Hi guys and girls! Thought it was about time i started a thread on my Jetta. It's a 2.0 Tdi sport 140 and i absolutely love it! I've had it for nearly 2 years, but only started modding it after about a year. It's lowered on JOM coilovers, black classix wheels, genuine GLI rear valance. On the 1st of March, I'm having a custom turbo back exhaust system fitted and then the wheels refurbed in a funky colour. Also, I'm having my engine plastics plasti dipped and going to try and get a leather interior, or Gti. Here's some pic's.

I'm glad I got my Jetta over a mk5 Golf. So much rarer and look awesome modified :happy2:

Went to Dubfreeze yesterday, good show. Stopped off for some pics afterwards in an industrial estate near me. The Jetta is abit dirty after being on the motorway for 2 hours, but thought I'd post it anyway.

-

I've only just got this grille, haha. I love how evil it looks! I'm getting the wheels refurbed in a different colour and hopefully as much as I possibly can over this year. Me and the girlfriend moved into our own place at the end of the year, so all my money is going on that. Apart from the exhaust system which I'm having fitted on the 1st of March
Cheznik - Thanks! It does look so moody - especially in the dark
-
Looking good! Really need to get myself jetta grills with fogs :ashamed:

You should keep checking Ebay. I was watching a genuine Jetta front end, with fogs and everything else for £75!! You are able to get bargains :happy2:

Thanks :happy2:

3M gloss black wrap would match perfectly and about the same cost as plastidip!
I have ordered a couple of times from these guys.

Thankyou :happy2:

Well...... Not been a good time for the Jetta the past few weeks :sad1:
Firstly I had to cancel my exhaust being done, as my girlfriend lost her job. Then a stupid old woman driver, in a 106, cut me up and I had to swerve into a big kerb. So I've badly scuffed my front left wheel all the way around and scuffed my splitter. So gutted! Just before show season aswell.
I'm going to book the wheels in for refurb in the next few weeks :happy2:
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo, ouch that sounds expensive Shane :sad1:
-
Rubbish update but at least you are being sensible! :happy2:
-
StanIpkiss - Luckily it hasn't bent the wheel or anything. Just glad really :happy2:
JoeDarka - I know it Isn't all what it should have been, but hey ho
-
Needs must at times but im sure it will come back looking even better!
-
Was u up preston this week pal saw a very similar jetta
-
JoeDarka - I certainly hope so :happy2:
Pee08 - I was in Southport today. Not been up Preston :)
-
your body work always looks like mirror. amazing detailing!

Thanks! I do try to keep it as clean as possible and as regular as I can :happy2:
-
Not updated in a while as nothing has happened. But now... I'm re-booking my exhaust in the next 2 weeks and I should have some new wheels in the next 3 months . I'm going to Elsecar mega meet on Easter Monday with a group I'm part of. Then it should be quite a few other shows and meets :happy2:
-
Here's a shot from the other night

Good to see this back on the road again Shane, will you be coming down to inters?
-

I doubt it. Money is really tight at the moment and I'd rather save the money towards my new wheels :happy2:
I'll be going to other shows though
-
Just some updates really. I've managed to get hold of some nearly new Skoda Octavia Vrs front brakes(complete set up) and I should be getting them fitted in the next few weeks  Then I'm booking my exhaust . Also, I'm giving the Jetta a 3 day machine polish this bank holiday, so I'll post some pictures of it just after :happy2:
-
Looking good mate! :). Shame about the exhaust but at least it's back on track now. Get some photos up once you've finished polishing it :D
-
Thanks, Dan  I will do. Just bought a G3 clay mitt, gonna give that a try :happy2:
-
Ohh nice! :). Let me know how you get on with it. I was actually thinking of trying one myself before I went over my car with the DA again :)
-
I'll be reet! I do that many cars and never get time to do my own :surprised:. The mitt is supposed to be so much quicker and easier than a clay bar. Plus, last a lot longer. You'll see pictures on FB, before you do on here :happy2:
-
Just some quick updates. I've booked my exhaust to be done for May 10th  Full 2 1/2 inch sports system with decat and a tiny backbox with twin polished tips. Can't wait to hear it and see it . Also, i've sold some of my detailing stuff, so i'll hopefully be booking my wheels in for refurb in a different colour, soon.
-
Car is looking Sweet Shane :) The exhaust should look nice too!
spotted last minute on Manchester Road the other day lol

So excited to get my exhaust done now! Only another week and a bit to go :jumping:
-
I've decided i'm going to put my original Jetta grill back on  Also, i'm getting my Octavia VRS front brakes fitted in the next 2 weeks
-
Nooooooo, Too shiny
-
Nooooooo, Too shiny
Haha, Cheers :happy2:
-
so, I've had my custom exhaust fitted. Sounds awesome, look's great and seems more responsive. Then today I go out to my car, to take it to my friend who is fitting my new VRS brakes, subwoofer and a pre-mot, and what do I find..... A bloody puncture!! :surprised:. Will get pictures up when everything is done :happy2:
-
Here's some pictures of my new exhaust system. I would highly recommend Topgear Stockport for any performance work or custom exhaust systems on your cars. Excellent customer service, and great work :happy2:

I'd of loved the Jetta in any colour. I was just lucky to get a black one
Sounds amazing  Quiet when driving slow and when you put your foot down it's very loud
-
Makes me want one for my jetta now.
-
It's well worth investing in a good exhaust system :happy2:
-
Well.... It's MOT time for the Jetta today! Hopefully it'll pass, as I had a pre - MOT on it last week and it needed a new CV boot and new front brake pads. Other than that, it didn't need anything else and everything was fine :happy2:
I'll post up later with the results
-
Good luck with the MOT Shane!
exhaust looks sweet too :happy2:
-
The Jetta passed! No advisories or anything :happy2:. Now just my insurance to go down next month and the modding should start to begin again.
-
looks clean mate

I've taken some of the stickers off my rear end, and someone has decided to steal my teddy and has pulled the cover off my GLI valance. Now it's missing :sad1:. On the other hand - It gave me an idea to fill it...... But that's under wraps until next year

I spent just over £1000 in a few weeks on getting the wheels done, full front and rear end respray, new JOM coilovers, egr delete and a few other things. Then the turbo, dual mass flywheels and clutch decided to go. So I had to sell it :sad1:
-
So I went to Cumbria Vag this weekend with a few friends. Our stand was the "Pure Vag" stand. What an awesome show! Great weather, great people and amazing cars. Definitely be going there every year now.

Anyone going to Dub Fiction show on the 13th of July? If so, I'll be there on the Pure Vag stand. Feel free to come over and say hi :happy2:
-
You said the Octavia brakes wouldn't fit?? You are correct the calipers are the same, you just need a pair of mk5 GTi/ octavia Vrs / mk2 Leon cupra r carriers, then new 312mm discs and upgraded pads. (Did the same with mine!)
-
looking excellent as normal--I was guttted i missed cumbria show

They would fit, as I had the correct calipers and carriers, but the discs that came with them were the wrong ones! :sad1:

Looking good mate! :). Dubfiction was only up the road from me but unfortunately the Uk-Mkivs mega meet clashed with it so I couldn't make it :(. Hopefully will be able to see you and the Jetta soon though!

Also, took my yellow wrap off my fog lights and got some yellow bulbs instead. Also wrapped the chrome around the fog light surrounds.

Went camping and gave the Jetta a quick detail, whilst i had a few hours spare.
Looking forward to Vw Fest at Harewood house, Leeds. If you see me by my car, come say hello :happy2:

So..... Finally something new! I've managed to pick up the wheels i've wanted for a while! They're matt black at the moment, but will be going gloss black next year. I had to get these wheels after seeing this picture
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fab131%2FSJW_20%2FIMG_20140828_230816.jpg&hash=9ffce2008d15646dd1110898bf6a053fe7140f07)

Main reason nothing has happened is beacuse i've been saving to get my car sorted. Need a new rocker cover and getting an EGR delete fitted.
-
Looks good mate! Always a fan of blacked up!
-
These are gonna look sooooo gooooood in gloss black :happy2:

I know, I can't wait! I just want to tell everyone what i'm doing ready for next show season! But I need to keep it quiet, haha.

what size tail pipes are they? 2.5"?
i was never a fan of the sirocco alloys but they look so good in the last pics
-
Awesome mate, really suit that

Yes mate, they're 2.5". I might be getting another exhaust added next year, and I think i'm going to get 3" tips :)
I love the look of them on Jettas. Look so beautiful
-

Thanks man :happy2:
-
Not much happening at the moment. Just saving up to get my tyres for the Scirocco wheels and a few other bit's. So here's some pictures :happy2:
Rolling shot anyone!?

Gave the Jetta it's winter protection detail aswell. Washed with carchem shampoo, cleansed and polished with Mothers pure cleanser polish, sealed with Autobrite Direct The Abyss and waxed with Collinite 476 paste wax.

Lovely car mate, always had a soft spot for jettas
Shame vw didn't bring over the gli
Have you thought about some gti smoked headlights? Would look really good IMO
-
I'd prefer the Hella xenon-look headlights with OSRAM Cool Blue Hyper 5000k bulbs.
-
Looking good Shane, the Scirroco wheels will look immense!
-
Jaffa - Thanks man. I know it is! I'll be ordering GLI sideskirts in the next few months and try and find an Ed30 front splitter. Yeah I'm on the lookout for some cheap GTI lights, but also saving for some replica OEM projector lights :).
Shoduchi - That's what I'll hopefully be getting :).
Chris-182 - Thanks alot! I really can't wait, haha.
-
Defo go for the projector lights over the GTI ones , iv got hella ones in my gti and they are up there with one of my fav mods :happy2:

Put my chrome grille back on..... Still undecided whether i prefer the GTI grille.

GTI grille for me. Shame that you are selling the Rocco reps :(
-
Nice ride - giving me some ideas!
2006 2.0 FSi GT
-
Chris-182 - I'm going to try my hardest not to get rid, but business isn't so good at the moment :sad1:
UKshocker - Thanks :happy2:
-
I don't blame you mate, it would look awesome on those!!
Hope things pick back up mate!
-

Cheers man. Hopefully it will
-
Not so much good new at this moment in time..... My family business has closed down, so I've had to sell my Scirocco wheels :sad1:. Hopefully I'll find a new job quickly and that has overtime, so i can begin the modding again.
-
Good news! I've got a new job and the nodding should start again soon! Getting GLI sideskirts for my birthday and hopefully I'm getting a lump sum so I can buy new wheels.
-
Congrats on getting a job this time of year :happy2:
Are you looking to get another set of Scirocco wheels or something different?
Nodding will get tiring and modding is expensive :signLOL:
-
Looks really nice, kinda wish I'd bought a Jetta
I prefer the Jetta grilles when the badge is chrome, think it looks a bit odd with the black badge in the middle of all that shininess.
But I vote for a GT Sport grille on this, but then I'm biased. :drinking:
-
I was lucky :).
I wouldn't mind another set of Scirocco wheels, but want some that nobody has on their alot.
Haha just noticed it says nodding.
-
Their car alot*
-
Some progress to be had in he next few weeks. For now, have a picture of my cleaning my Jetta :)

Honestly! Writing a post on your phone always changes words! Sorry.
-
Sure I've seen this a few times around Warrington, looks pretty good!
-
Always loved the look of the GT Classic wheels
-
Andybon - You would have, that's where I live :).
Chris763 - Me too! Really nice OEM wheel.
-
I might be one of the few people that don't like the Classixs wheels... The main reason why I ordered the R-Line kit, which was a very good decision IMO taking in account the cost of the kit and the parts included.
The world would be very boring if we all liked the same stuff.
I like your Jetta with the wheels painted like that.
-
Shoduchi - Thanks
-
Gave The Jetta a much needed wash yesterday.

So satisfying having a clean car and yours looks good clean :happy2: :happy2:
I need to wash mine, it's been 2 weeks and sh*t load of miles, my wheels are no longer silver but black with muck :sad1:
-
Looks good mate
-
Stanipkiss - Isn't it just! Mine hadn't been cleaned for 4 weeks before this wash :(. Haha :)
Gingerman88 - Thanks mate :)
-
Finally an update! I've ordered and payed for my GLI sideskirts from TPS today! Picking them up on Saturday and getting them fitted when the body shop has time. More than likely the end of the month.
-
Car looks great mate, I reckon some black gti headlights would finish that front end off!
-
@usmangti - Cheers mate. I'm hopefully going to get some projector lights in the future :)
-
Car looks clean as always! I'd love a set of projectors myself, but they are just so pricey!
-
@Tom. Thanks mate :). Yeah I'm looking at the Ebay special projectors. Heard good and bad things about them.
-
Picked up my GLI sideskirts! Got to ring the body shop tomorrow to book the Jetta in to get them fitted and a quote on sorting my rear bumper and boot.
Here's a picture of my weekly wash :)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftapatalk.imageshack.com%2Fv2%2F15%2F02%2F08%2F89cc6b425013d884d6c4aeeb0ca2740e.jpg&hash=b17eda08bdfe4f197f7f154a62c8a5e2eea069f4)

Few others bit's happening, but they're just maintenance bit's such as a service, fixing my 2 front windows and a few other bit's
-
Looks sweet with the GLI Skirts :happy2:
-
Love the sideskirts :happy2: Really need to get myself a set! You planning on getting a ed30 front splitter or alike to match?
-
@phillips - Thanks very much :).
@simon0014 - I am indeed. Looking at getting an Ed30 one in the next month or two.
-
Fitted a new rear gloss badge and gave the Jetta a good clean on this beautiful Saturday we've had!

Skirts look sweet Shane :happy2:
-
@Stanipkiss - Thanks :)
-
Sideskirts make such a difference.
Just really crying out for colour coding now IMO then it would look sweet ass.
-
@xjay1337 Don't they just. I want to keep them textured plastic, I prefer the look :).
-
So.... My wheels have been done in Vimto purple
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftapatalk.imageshack.com%2Fv2%2F15%2F03%2F28%2F6b96127f860bc6f6f56de72879167904.jpg&hash=06aa678fea9efd4666ce4b20e477b511568c5f74)

-
as much as i love vimto bars I'm not a massive fan of that colour on your car
i appreciate doing something different but i prefer the black on black look you had going on and i don't even like black wheels
it seems to look higher as well with the different colour?
-
I like them :happy2: Wing mirrors next :jumpmove:
-
This is definitely a marmite moment, with other vimto parts this will work and mirror covers are a good start. :happy2:
Is there a vimto wrap? Front grille would look good
Have to agree with jaffa, it looks higher
-
@jaffa I absolutely hate them now they're done!! Can't wait to change them back to black or graphite grey
-
@Phillips - Thanks man - Shame I've stopped liking them!
-
@Stanipkiss - I completely agree! Many people like it and many people hate it (me being one of them!). I thought it looked higher ont he pictures, must just be the angle. Still got the same low lows :D
-
Gave my Jetta a good going over
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F04%2F10%2F46e683e2270e33c39e5842393cf81bee.jpg&hash=225dcd8f829d55b9c5f9527cc54eadf033b3f050)
-
So I decided to dedicate the weekend just gone to cleaning, sealing, sanding and spraying pretty much anything that could be done underneath my Jetta. I also greased anything up that needed greasing and oiling.
I also have refurbed my wheels myself for the total cost of £12! Plus that includes changing my chrome grill to black and all the under car spraying. It really does look do much better and cleaner! Plus a lot meaner! Oh I've also lowered it an inch at the front. Looks higher on my phone camera, but I'll post pictures off my proper camera on the next few days.
I'll be on the Pure Vag stand and All Types this weekend and hopefully in the Show & Shine at the Unphased show in a few weeks.

Anyone going to All Types this weekend? I'm on the Pure Vag stand with my friends :happy2:. Also i've been accepted into The Unphased show & shine in a few weeks. Mega prep will begin this weekend, with wheels being taken off, engine detail, interior taken out and shampooed etc. I think i'm going to lower it more for the shows aswell
Also - Here are some better pictures of my Jetta lowered a bit more, the new grill, and the few other bit's I did over the weekend.
-
Pictures taken off my Nikon bridge camera with no filters added.

-
@Stanipkiss Isn't it! I love it so much more again. I'm spraying it tomorrow

Finished my grills off today. It's mad how such a tiny bit of chrome makes such a difference! Looks so mean
. Also taken my wheels off again to re - clean ready for All Types Vw show. Cleaned all the arches and underneath too. Hope you all like

Some bad news for me and the Jetta the other day.... I think the head gasket is on it's way out. Will be 100% certain when I get it MOT'D on the 5th of June. So gutted if it is! Plus I've had to out it back to the height it was because it developed an unusual noise
-
Uh oh, did you find out at the MOT?
Check your drive shafts, it could have been to low and may need the notch.
-
No -It's been leaking fluid for a while and we couldn't find a leak. I've changed the timing belt and water pump, EGR delete and EGR cooler delete to see if was anything to do with them - But still leaking :(. Going to try Steel Seal and see if it'll last till Christmas, as that's when I get my bonus and will be able to get it done.
On a plus note..... The Jetta passed it's MOT with flying colours :).
Also - I've lowered it a little more than what it was when I highers it, and no noise has appeared :)

Got myself some genuine GTI headlights off a guy I know. Really happy with how much meaner the front end looks. Also - It's even more stealth
. Fitted them myself too, which was quite easy and took about 90 minutes in total.
Hope you all like

Hope you don't put that steel seal rubbish in... will do infinetly more harm than good.
If it is the headgasket have it replaced properly. If it's the porous head problem then you're screwed either way lol
-
What exactly is the porous head problem? I am planning on having it replaced properly, but don't have the spare money until Christmas when I get my bonus. It was just a stop gap to stop it from losing stupid amounts of coolant that it is :(
-
Do some research, very well discussed issue.
cylinder liners become porous water from the cooling jackets seems into the cylinder and is burnt off.
It could very well be a headgasket but could also be that.
Who knows
Potato.
-
Had a look into it, hanks alot
-
I used Kseal in a previous car. Sorted out the leak No white smoke from the exhaust and no using a Gallon of G12/13 every week :signLOL: :signLOL: Last I heard the car was still going strong and I saved £1700 for a new cylinder head K seal is about £10 from ECP

So the Jetta is DEAD! started to cost more and more to fix from the start of this year and now it's finally died! Porous head, whining diff in the gearbox and the oil pump exploded the other day which had caused the engine to blow. It's been a great few years, but I'm going to move away from VW for a few years due to the fact that every VW I've owned over the years has done nothing but let me down, cost a fortune to fix and then broke. Maybe in a few years I'll come back to them, but for now I'm getting a cheap run-a - round to get me to work and back.
Thanks for all the kind and positive comments on my posts over the years.
Will still be going VW shows that I go to, just to admire this time.
-
sorry to hear that mate, always liked your jetta :sad1:

Thanks

I'm back..... Sort of! The Jetta has been missed diagnosed by a stupid mechanic!!! Turns out the engine is good and the oil pump is fine! All that needs doing is the head gasket and the turbo.
So unbelievably happy! Should be back on the road by the new year

Great and unexpected come back! Hope it's sorted soon. :drinking:

Now your keeping it what's the new plans?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shoduchi - Thanks :).
Jaffa - Always have plans in mind - But stuff like this kills them dead. I'm going to do whatever money allows, wheels, interior etc.
-
Had a similar issue when mine kept blowing turbos all the time end I was going to sell or burn mine as I was sick of it but am glad I stuck with it
-
Maxitrol - Yeah that's how I've been feeling the last few months! Nothing but problem after problem. All common faults though, so hopefully after this it'll be right.
-
Spent a full day machine polishing the Jetta over the bank holiday weekend  Looks even more sexier now

So excited to get my exhaust done now! Only another week and a bit to go :jumping:
What headlight bulbs are you running?
-
@White91 - Ultra xenon style bulbs, About £8 off Ebay. Excellent light output and really nice looking.
-
So the Jetta has gone into storage until December. It's getting a reconditioned turbo (any recommended companies?), new oil cooler & new oil sensor. Then (I'm really hoping so) I hope I'll have no more problems for a long while, as this year has completely killed me!
Will post more updates as and when they come along :)
-
I have used Midland turbo who were very good
-
Thanks - I'll check them out.
-
Turbo technics. They should do it on an exchange of u can get the turbo off yourself
-
Thank you :)
-
Really looking forward to getting my Jetta back in December/January. Will pot progress when I book it in :)

Not long until I get my Christmas bonus off work! Then I should (hopefully) be able to book it in for repair. I honestly can't wait!

Maxitrol - Thanks. I did get some GTI headlights, but had to sell them and put the money towards getting the Jetta fixed :(.

I'm genuinely amazed I haven't seen this thread before! Your car is really epic, and I can't get over how good the classix look in gloss black, kind of regret selling mine off now!!!
-
@bluebert92 - Thank you so much! Such kind words
. Yeah that's why I haven't changed my wheels tbh! They look so good and people are always commenting on them. They're matt black now & look just as good.

I'm definitely going to have a think about getting some back and getting them sprayed up maybe for a winter alloy instead of my monzas, I'm genuinely gob smacked how good they look over the standard classix! I may well do them in gloss Black and then I could always plastidip them matte if I needed to change :)
-
@bluebert92 - Yeah I was when I had them done. I'm thinking of a colour change, but honestly don't know if I want to :/
-
Oh I wouldn't change them! It suits your car to a tee mate, I for one vote you keep them that colour :driver:
-
@bluebert92 - I'll probably just give them a fresh coat for the new year then
-
Quick update - The Jetta was bought home last night ready to be fixed by my mechanic over the next 2 weeks.
Getting my turbo from Midlands Turbo. Don't know whether I'm getting mine repaired or a new unit as of yet until I found out why it failed.
-
Good to hear it's on its way to been back on the road
-
So my turbo is now at Midlands Turbo being repaired. Turns our it died because of 'overspeed'. My mechanic will be checking my intercooler, all boost pipes & boost control valve (I think that's what it's called). Then it should be back on my Jetta on Wednesday along with all the other parts it needs.
I could potentially have it back and be driving it by Wednesday night! So unbelievably excited! I'll post as & when I get it back

A word of warning, I would be fitting a new oil feed pipe when you rebuild it as its common for the existing oil feed pipe to be choked internally (on the bend) causing reduced flow and premiture failure of the replacement turbo.
-
@doylebros - Thanks, I'll let my mechanic know :)
-
Yeah definitely a new oil feed ,if you need the one of the bottom of the turbo i have one you can have and a oem intercooler if you need them
-
@maxitrol - Thanks so much for the kind offer! I'll be getting them put on the same day and IF I need them tbh. Just because I want it back so bad! Haha.
-
I saw this in Huddersfield today, Did you end up selling this considering it has been a year since the last update? Looked well either way
