Hi Im just about to buy a Golf Gti Edition 30  with 60k miles on the clock. It has FSH, mainly done at specialists. Its had the all important DSG oil change at 40k. Does anyone know which warranty companies are good if the DSG was to have problems?
Thank you.

Be careful and read the small print. There are a lot of items/instances that are not covered by these companies. Also even with a valid claim there may be an excess to pay and an upper payout limit.
DSG - if the mechatronics go it should be covered as long as its been serviced in accordance with VW requirements.
Some would argue that you'd be better to save the warranty premium (and a few quid per month) towards any repairs you may require.

yh ive only really spoken to warranty direct. I asked the guy about mechatronics he said it was covered, il ask them for it in writing. I need to ask AA about their warranty products too.
The only problem with the car I want to buy is that its only had 1 stamp at main dealers, the rest are at specialists. But when I rang the dealer he said its had 3 at vw and 3 and specialists, so I rang vw but they said only 1 has been done at vw (1st service). So il need to check the book carefully. Anyone know any other way to check about servicing etc? Also when I queried this with warranty direct salesmen he said its not an issue as long as its had services at correct time etc.
This is just a big headache, I really hope nothing goes wrong.

Dodgy if a dealer tells you it's had 3 vw main dealer services and it's only had one !!!
I would check every thing thoroughly before purchase.
I have an ED30 DSG and have kept the vw warranty going since the 3 years elapsed. There are 3 options and choice of
excess, give them a call I've found them not to be as expensive as others.
Hope it all works out well for you, the ED 30 is a great car.

On the whole they are pretty reliable, providing you keep the DSG services up to date, replace the cam follower every 15-20K, depending on state of tune, they are fairly "bullet proof" I was in the same boat when I bought mine, had always owned cars from new and always had the warranty and was looking for a warranty for my golf but then decided not to, 3 years later I've bought a VCDS to diagnose any problems and any problems I have had have been PCV valve, Diverter valve and a couple of £10 sensors and I am by no means a mechanic! Save the money, make sure you FULLY check the car before you buy it, invest on a VCDS and enjoy! :drinking: :driver:

I have a warranty with Warranty Direct and am happy with their service.
I've had both a wheel bearing replaced and the small AC fan replaced under warranty. As my car has over 60,000 miles on the clock they covered 80% of the part cost and 100% of the labour.
There's a £50 excess on my policy, so all in all a couple of £200 plus jobs cost me hardly anything in comparison.
