hey, been searching a time for a answer to this, whats the difference between OEM xenon headlights and aftermarkets?
-
A lot of the aftermarket are xenon look so use normal bulbs not xenon bulbs. Plus to do xenons correctly you would want (may technically don't have to have I believe) the levellers and washer jets

project units in OEM ones are generally higher quality
Better beam pattern.
Aftermarket ones are not designed to use HID bulbs... you have to use HID kits..beam pattern is often OK though.
But yeah, not quite the real deal.

how can you tell if a golf mk5 gti have oem xenon headlights or aftermarkets?
-
Phone vw with your reg or vin number and ask what options are fitted!
-
Also check out the light switch in the car, genuine XENONS wont have the beam adjustment wheel as they self level
-
Yup exactly the oem xenon will auto level on start up. You can also check for the ballasts and bulbs on the back of the headlight along with any part numbers.
.simple enough really

I bought my car with aftermarket xenons. They look great from the outside. Problem is that I don't have a clue where to look for a part when the bulb/ballast stops working.
I doubt VW dealer will touch it either.

Thanks! But the car didn't come with oem xenons, i mean that they changed the headlight to a oem headlight. How can i see if its a aftermarket unit or oem light?
