Title: Key fob programmed with vagcom, light on key flashes but no unlock/lock ?
Post by: BcPitta on February 16, 2014, 04:04:41 pm
been like this since i bought the car, at first there was no flashing light on the key, bought a new battery and now it flashes fine with every button, so got vagcom on, programmed both my keys in ( all start the car fine by the way) both give the acceptance hazzard flash when you hold the fob button while there being programmed in the ignition, but as soon as you take them out it doesnt do any thing, no lock no unlock no boot pop ? , ive just ordered a central convenience module from ebay (£10 so thought may aswell) hoping that will work, if not is there anything else that could be causing it ? where is the receiver for the signal ? all fuses are fine. cheers

Check the frequency of the keys and module they have to match!

This may explain it

Right ive been at it again, i put just the metal key half in the ignition and kept the originial fob in my hand just over the handbrake, recoded the fog clicked the button while stil holding it over the handbrake so nowhere near the ignition barrel and it still gave the conformation flash, so the car is rieceving the signal from the fob ( the other fob i bought doesnt link up so that makes sense with doylebros post as this had a differnet number from the original fob thanks for that dude) but still the key doesnt lock or unlock the car, ive been through must be all the menus on vagcom and no where can i see an option to disable the fob, i really dont wanna have to take this to a dealer but my options are looking slim

If your following this procedure and it completes the process I would think the fob is still the faulty item!

but ive done it 3 time and each time used a different button on the fob to activate and each time the car accepts the fob and gives the hazard flash, so i dont get how it can be the fob ? but ill see if i can get another spare from somewhere and have another go, thanks for your help bud

Where abouts are you? I travel a lot, carry spare remotes, could help narrow the problem down. Sounds like ccm and fob are good, maybe a fuse / relay/ plug elsewhere failing.
