At crail and went to open my bonnet handle was quite tight and heard a snapping noise the handle now flaps about as if not connected, is this just the cable came loose from the handle or is the latch broken
-
sounds like the same thing, that happened to mine... right pain in the arse.. when it happened to mine the cable joiner hap popped open and the cables separated.
if you search google you should find a how to guide on opening the bonnet

once i got the bonnet catch off, i just wd40 the hell out of it. then packed it with grease. aparantly its quite a common fault with them

You actually want to remove the bonnet catch mechanism, scrape off all of the rust with a flat bladed screwdriver, use a lot of brake cleaner, wd40 etc and then you need to grease it. Too much can be as bad as too little as it will hold onto dirt then.

yeah i used brake cleaner, and cleaned as much of the rust of as possible
-
Mine was stuck one day, had to use a hole can of brake clean to get it going again..

id recommend changing the latch
mine kept sticking no matter how many times i cleaned and greased it, i ended up getting a new latch and half of the cable (comes in 2 parts) cost around £30 and 10 mins to fit :happy2:
