Hoping someone can help.
A friend of mind asked that I swap his version B RNS 510 for a newer P unit on his 58 plate Golf estate with external shark fin aerial and Highline screen which gave nav directions.
The installation went well and the unit works perfectly. However, the directions no-longer show on the Highline display. As nav was already installed, in the car, I would expect the car was coded correctly for it to work previously?
Any ideas what it could be?

You need to check the coding with vcds mate to be sure

untick BAP (hopefully you have VCDS) from with in the long coding of the 510, version P is out of a newer car with a white display, its not fitted to red displays that don't use BAP, it will all be fine when you remove this tick from the coding.

What is BAP???
I have a P in my golf with red display...

I do have VCDS. Would you be able to let me know where the BAP tick box is located?
Thanks

I think it's in one of the bytes (using long coding helper) under 'Navigation'

BAP is the display protocol used on white display cars, hence most newer versions of the 510 which are only fitted in white display cars have it ticked in the coding,
DDP is the display protocol used on red display cars, the 510 can use both but not at the same time so if you have the BAP code box ticked in the coding, it thinks its a white display car and won't display on a red MFD, you loose audio and nav menu.
almost all new versions of 510 being sold on ebay like H,Q,P etc etc have BAP pre ticked to work in white display cars as VW have stopped using red around 2009-2010 just untick it then it will happily work on a red display
untick bit 7

I will give it a try, thank you for taking the time to explain what I need to do :happy2:

don't forget to reset the 510 after doing it or it still won't work
so press and hold 2 arrow buttons on left and the far right button next to eject for 10 seconds then all will be ok

Can also confirm it will be the BAP/ DDP setting causing this.
