Title: WHITE Headlight Bulbs
Post by: chrisr763 on February 21, 2014, 12:20:53 pm
Hello!

I am well aware there are several threads regarding bulbs throughout this forum - However none actually help when looking for the whitest bulb to (try) and match LED sidelights.

Does anyone have experience of H7 halogen bulbs that are of good performance and show a white light?

I am currently running Phillips x-treme bulbs...

These look positively yellow next to my sidelights - They are however a very good bulb and give very good visibility.  :happy2:

Thanks for your help!

Chris

Phillips diamond bright or something. it's advertised as 5k halogen bulb not for road use.
You can't physically get a halogen bulb to match a white LED side light.

I've got the same issue! I have the Philips X-treme vision as well. Great bulb, but now I've changed to LED sidelights they do look yellow. You can get bulbs with a blueish look to give a Xenon style look. They might make a better match but they won't have the same performance as the X-treme vision. I am debating what to do myself but might just live with the different colour combo.

Thinking just get some projector headlights and run HID's eventually. Looking for a second hand set

Been trying to get a certified question to my newbie question... are the philips simply plug and play into a stock car?

The X-treme vision are a straight swap yep. I just got my headlight alignment checked after to make sure it hadn't altered. Also, don't touch the bulb glass with your fingers  :happy2:

I went out and got a set of Philips before reading the post and chanced it, turns out I had Osram 64210's installed (no idea what model this relates to after a quick google), can't tell much of a difference (see pic below - philips on drivers, osram on passenger), might take them back.

You won't necessarily notice the difference by just looking at them. You need to go for a good drive in the dark and more powerful lights will be noticeably better lighting up the road by shining further ahead.

I have done, still not a noticeable difference - but then I apparently wasn't on stock before

You had these ones, same as what was in mine before I put the night breakers in tonight. Im guessing with Osram being a german brand, they're just standard in the VAG group. I aint used the philips xtremes but the night breakers i noticed a massive different, even in the pics i took of before and after you could easily see it.

i run osram night breaker ultra +110% bulbs in my main beam and fogs along side led sides and hid dipped beam in projector headlights. it makes for a decent combo.
