Hi everyone,
Got my GTi on Friday and it has been sold as having "alarm with interior protection". After reading the manual it says there should be a button on the b-pillar for switching off the "interior monitor and anti-tow alarm". Is this the same thing? I don't have this button and so am now wondering if the car has interior protection? Also what is standard on the gti?
Any help gratefully received!

Yes for the interior protection there should be a button on the b pillar on drivers side where the headrest usually lines up with. If you want to see if you have the feature lock car by pressing once on lock button on remote once key is removed and move around after about 10 seconds. If alarm goes off you have it. If not you don't. If you do have the feature installed and you want to deactivate double lock the car with remote when you leave. This saves you pressing that button.
Go to parkers.com and search golf gti to see standard and optional features of golf gti.

Does the car have an alarm ultrasonic sensor?
-
Not too sure if I have the ultrasonic sensors
I have a what looks like two sensors on the b pillar but no button?
I guess I will have to try and set the alarm off myself whist sitting in it.
Thanks everyone

I thought interior and anti-tow alarms were standard on the GTI. If it helps the button is quite low down on the B pillar and is dual action, push up to disable one alarm or down to disable the other. If you don't have it, you may have an import. Although now I fully expect someone to tell me I'm wrong

Uk spec had an alarm as standard and imports didn't. There should be a sensor above the rear near side passenger door (on a 5 door) and button on the B pillar (as below)

Hi everyone
I have finally found the interior protection button
By the driver side pilar.
So to test this works I sat in the car whist alarmed and that still
Didn't set the alarm off
I am a thinking faulty sensor?????
Any ideas

Probably the alarm horn/siren as they a prone to going wrong, get someone to scan it to find out... If there is a fault your door led wen you lock the car will stay solid before flashing
-
Sorry nodz
I don't understand ?

You need someone with a cable (vcds) to plug into your cars On Board Diagnostics port (OBD2) and use a laptop to see if any faults are there.
Whereabouts are you ? A lot of members have the cable and software,me included.
-
quite simple to test if the alarm is working
Lock the car
Unlock the car with the key in the drivers door, not the remote.
after a short while the alarm will go off, look at the indicators if they flash but no siren then the horn will be dead
