very nice...
welcome to the world of crazy modding... wont be long before we see new wheels, lowered, remap, exhaust

:congrats: :happy2:
What Spec did you settle for ??

What Spec did you settle for ??
Unfortunately it's quite a basic specced manual - only tints and arm rest. Never mind. I can always px it against a CW 3dr DSG with every option - oh yeah - one doesn't exist :signLOL:
-
Looking great, I was after a high spec White or grey, and neither seemed to exist, especially after all my previous cars had options lists like Xmas trees, my car just has dsg and armrest, and it's just great, the others options are nice but not essential to the ED30. I've added cruise, and osram bulbs- which have made the lights brilliant to be fair. This car is for driving especially after map, intake and exhaust.
Enjoy the cw, they look great in that colour.
Any mods planned??
-
Thanks Oli :happy2:
No mods planned - standard is good on an everyday car, especially when you've a GT3 as a weekend car!!!!
Many questions:-
RE retro-fit cruise - did VW do this for you? How much? Is it an easy job, ie what's involved?
Has anyone else had options retro fitted - sat nav? MFSW (what does this actually do on a manual car?) 6CD autochanger?
Also, is it possible to retro-fit the Lux pack and does this contain the automatic dipping of wing mirrors when reversing and the folding in of wing mirrors??
Cheers - Phil

Awesome do the cruise control as do the local stealers, similar prices too...between £100-200 cant remember exactly.
MFSW and the sat nav are also plug and play so to speak...RNS510 is the sought after sat nav...pick them up for £5-600ish.
Not sure about the lux pack, dont know what it entails
-
Very nice. :happy2: Folding mirrors can be added - you'll need the mirrors, the switch and the control modules from inside both doors. It's a plug and play fitment - I've done it to mine.
-
Welcome Phil....nice car. :happy2:
-
Hi there 997GT3, well done mate, you have bought a great car there :happy2: You really wont need all the extra's as you have the ED30. Definately need to get the RNS510 though. It is an AMAZING bit of kit! (Im still waiting to get the phone prep for mine).
I too would like to know how easy it is to fit the cruise control! I'm sure it is simple, as long as you get it coded after fitting it! They are for sale on ebay for £50 (genuine vw too). I'm really tempted, but my cash is already accounted for, for the next few months :signLOL:
First i'm getting my H&R springs fitted tomorrow (and yes, i am gettin em done at the VW specialist ),
Then i am getting a Private Reg Plate,
Then the Factory Phone prep for the RNS510. (anyone fit this for me?)
and then cruise-control.... if there's any left :sad1:
well done again, CW is very nice
-
Car looks great.... :congrats:
'luxury pack 1' = electrically folding wing mirrors, rear reading lights and a passenger side mirror which lowers, allowing the driver to see and avoid hitting the kerb....I think there is also a Lux pack 2 but not sure what that has extra ??
:happy2:

Im sure VRStu can do both :happy2:

Thanks for all your comments chaps. :happy2:
I must say, from joining this forum as a non-mk5 owner to now getting my Ed30 has been great. I find the speed, helpfulness and friendliness of replies to be really really top drawer. You all deserve a (VW) medal :drinking:
This must be the very best (and i've been on a fair few) forum i've come across!
Ok, now who wants to sell me their RNS510 Sat Nav unit for £50!!!!!
Cheers - Phil
-
Looks just like mine :happy2: Agree with you on the forum - definitely one of the best I've been on!
-
Excellent choice of car Phil. A versatile car that's a pleasure carrying the family or having a hoon on track.
On the cruise control I had mine retro fitted by AWESOME in Manchester. They did fit it with the APR software which allows you to switch been the stock VW map and the APR Stage 1 variants which should take the car to approx 290-300bhp. It's a superb modification likewise I find the cruise facility brilliant especially on speed restricted sections on the motorway.
APR can also offer other functions which can also be accessed via the cruise stalk....I like their approach to their tuning philosophy using OE hardware to change the maps.
There are many others out there and the ED30 really comes alive on a stage 1 map.
Good luck and one of the best colours.

Looks lovely mate  I miss mine! :sad1:
-
So all i need now is my numbered plaque. Will VW have already sent this to the one and only previous owner or only if they requested (which i think they wont have)?
-
Dont hold your breath mate! I doubt you will get one :sad1: Ive been asking and asking my dealer, and they just say that they will try and look into it!
-
you need to ring customer service, it does take a while but be patient
-
Yep - I called and got my plaque in about 4 weeks - bypass the dealer and go straight to VW!
Congrats on the new car btw :happy2:

Ordered my plaque at the end of July with VW UK, and having just spoken to them now, they say it will be with me in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome aboard the cw bandwagon. I must agree Candy white is awesome, i found mines kinda by accident, long story, and had speant months looking for the right one! Mines is candy white, dsg, lux 2, cruise, sound pack but no mfsw :ashamed: . Im on the hunt for an rcd 510 though :sad1: not having much luck. Enjoy the car, mines is totally standard and surpasses all my needs....maybe i drive like a granny? :sad1:
-
Hi Truckie - you lucky b*****d finding a DSG CW and with a few extras like cruise and Lux pack. When was yours registered and how many miles? What part of the country are you in?
Thinking of swapping the manual gearbox on mine to a DSG one, adding sat nav, cruise, MFSW, Lux pack and xenons.
Anyone else done this :signLOL:
-
haha, nice one. the story of how i came across mines would probably make you very angry...i was drooling over it outside my work and the guy came over and said he was selling it, i had been hunting for one for ages and had actually given up! I had a seat leon fr before and this is outrageous compared :signLOL: Its a 57 plate and was bought from specialist cars in aberdeen...im just outside edinburgh myself, its got 15000 miles on now and is plaque number 1304 :happy2:
-
Glad you found your candy ED 30 MR Porker, its always better to wait like you did until the colour you are yearning for comes along.
Thanks for all your comments chaps. :happy2:

There are a couple of reasons why this place works well compared to most. A few members disagree with it and think our inexperience shows but thats just down to it not suiting there personal needs. Mostly this forums works well because all our members are respectful to each other and indeed other makes of cars apart from Vauxhalls and fords which is correct
Long may it continue. :drinking:

Top Cat said "apart from Vauxhalls and fords which is correct " :signLOL: :happy2:
My V5 arrived today from the DVLA so i'm now officially the car's 2nd owner.
I shall now endeavour to ring VW Customer (lack of) Services and try to obtain my number plaque!
Phil
ps - Top Cat - why does ur Ed 30 look cream colour on your signature? I assume it is CW?

His car is Candy White, he's very good with Photoshop and his car isnt an Edition30, but one of the nicest modified Standard GTi's on here :happy2:
