Driving home on the motorway and the car lost performance, wasnt far from home so drove home at 50mph or so. Got home and left the car in the drive way so that it could be taken to the mechanics the next day.
Went to start it the next day and it wouldnt start, no compression..
Towed to mechanics -- Seems that the timing chain has slipped, come completely off and damaged the engine probably beyond repair.
Not sure what to do now..

If the timing chain has jumped a tooth or completely come off chances are the engine is beyond repair and your cheapest option would be to replace it with a used engine.

Thats what i've been advised to do but not having any luck finding an engine anywhere. Engine code is BKG - Seems to be rare..

The chains in these sadly aren't fit for purpose. The 1.4 FSI was quite rare, you might be able to replace it with the non-FSI 1.4 16v? Slighlty down on power but if it would fit you'd save a lot of money.

Yeah theres a few engines about but slightly different engine codes,
Where can I find out if for example a BCA engine can replace my BKG engine?
Thanks
