I am on the look for a nice edition 30 and there is not too much about at the minute, I am maybe being a bit picky but would like a 5 door silver one which there seems to be a lack of at the minute.
Going by the autotrader / PH it looks like black is the most common colour, not a colour that does it for me im affraid due to the upkeep and difficulty to keep clean.
Should i bide my time and wait for the right colour or take the plunge when a nice "other colour" turns up ? The turn over of edition 30's is a bit slow just now and its testing my patience !! :sad1:

They are popular cars and alot of people wont sell them if theyre private owners. Fleet or Ex demo's are on Vw dealer used car network.
Id try and get the colour you want, rather then spec it has, as you may be waiting a while, just ask a few visitors here asking the same question as you.
Good Luck. Tis is a great car to own, and a keeper :happy2:

I think there are a couple on Autoquake at the moment...can't remember about colour and spec though. Its a good website for cars though, plenty of photos and details. Or even easier check out the for sale section on here

Hold out as long as you can for the colour you want, reflex silver pops I'm the sunlight.... Lush, I had a Gti in that colour and with some purple haze wax it looked stunning, hid the road dirt well between washes too
-
i know what your going through, im looking for a tt for my wife in avus silver and its driving me crazy. when they do come up there either high milage or not good enough. keep on hunting one will turn up eventually :happy2:
-
Motorprovider currently have some brand new ones for sale ... may be one or two Reflex Silver ones if you give them a call :happy2:
They will be Euro imports, but still look reasonable value, given they are DSG. Just ask when the PDI was done, as the two year warranty starts from then. I bought my first GTi from them and saved quite a few '000 - had no problems with warranty or servicing and got £500 less at trade in with a VW dealer when I sold.

and some top spec ones with Xenons and Satnav RNS510  :-

Grey is a shade of silver, and I might know where a very tidy example is available........

If you see one that you like you better be quick. I have just sold my black ED30 it was on the auto trader web site less than 12 hours and was sold at full asking price, and i could have sold it a dozen times over. Happy car hunting :happy2:

Thanks for the replies guys, lots of good advice in there to take on board. Theme import ones are DSG otherwise would of been a good option for me.
There are a couple of reflex silver on autotrader buth they have priced them round the 19/20 grand mark which seems to high and close to S3 money.
I will be patient and hopefully I can get my hands on the one i want.
Thanks folks,
Kevin

can I ask why you dont want DSG?
-
In my opinion it takes away a bit ofthe driving involvement so would prefer a manual gearbox, also just something else that "could" go wrong once out of warranty.

I agree with you totally on this one Kev, i have always liked a manual box and feel more involved (specially coming from a Type R) but i have heard nothing but good things about the DSG gearbox. All i keep telling myself is i'm not old enough to be that lazy yet .
The Gti is a great car though, i certainly haven't looked back.
Happy hunting :jumpmove:

Test drive one and ask yourself again. Thats the only way to know whether you'll "Have to have it". Both great in either way tbh.
-
not wishing to spoil your thread but I would definitely try one :happy2:, the DSG vs manual issue isnt as simple as it first seems.
manual : great feel and driver involvement but ultimately slower , and need an expensive clutch to handle lots of torques
DSG : brilliant , quicker , yes its expensive if it breaks but it seems pretty reliable. gearbox remap means a DSG can handle almost as many torques as you can throw at it (short of a BT kit!)
Both great , both very different :happy2:

Dont want to try and convert you but why not get a leon cupra? Can get one for cheaper and it already has 5 doors and 10 more bhp standard :)

If he wanted a Cupra I guess here isn't the place to be eh?

well done :congrats:

To be fair, i did consider one but have to say i prefer the looks of the edition 30 and overall quality of the interior finish.
Would it be deemed out of order to PM people on here and see if they were considering selling up their car in the near future ???
Desperate times call for desperate measures !

Pm Candy Turbo, his is up for sale every other week
His is a good spec, but you will have to chuck him a few extra quid for him to concede

Hold out for the right colour, I did. You wont regret buying then regardless of what if any extra toys it has on it. I was amazed at used car values for the Ed30. Hope it stops like that!!
I was 100% manual all the way until i drove a DSG. I really liked it but ended up getting a manual because a white 3dr DSG Ed30 is as common as winning the lottery jackpot!!
-
so no one told you that the black eddies are the fastest then?!! :surprised:
definitely try the DSG if you havent yet because its a good thing, i never ever wanted to have an auto but after driving with flappy paddles the world is a better place and i wont look back now :happy2:
