I know some of you guys will be against this, but i know some of you run with a plate in the window.
I'm wanting my plate to sit like this:

I will be moving the tax disc up, dont worry! At the moment the plate is just kinda sat there, and when i drive it falls down and isn't visible. Can anyone recommend something that i could buy to get the plate to sit like this? I was thinking sticky pads. but i don't want them to be obvious.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply! I think those may be a little big for my liking unfortunately. Having a look at the clear sticky pads used on tax discs. Might get a set of them :happy2:

No tax disc will be issued post October 2014 when you next renew your car tax as per the new regulations.

They slot bwtween the dash and window anyway... well mine does...
-
out of interest why would you want to do it?

I want a smooth grille and i dont really want a plate there. I could tie wrap it to the bottom grille but i really dont like that look, hence the window :)
-
You will get fined for the plate being in the window and it's gone up to £100 now!
The law is front plate has to be fitted in front of the A pilar! Which is In front of the windscreen.
I don't want to be a fun killer but just saying as it may save you a fine or two.
My mate ran his in his window and received two fines of £100 each so not worth the risk I think.

Glue dots from any crafts shop will do the trick.
Used them for an old tax disc holder and it worked fine.
-
might aswell just remove it completly putting it in the window just makes it look like its fell off and you have put it there for the time being
-
Running a plate in the window is illegal, I know it looks better, but it is an offence, plain and simple.
Your plate is there for recognition of ANPR machines, dotted around everywhere. If it is in your front windscreen then it may not be picked up by the readers due to the glare from the windscreen, and if your car is stolen, then police won't be able to track it.
Everyone on here prefers the smooth grille, but the law is the law, run the plate with suckers on as I did for years, and then when you want to take a photo, just pull the plate off and then restick it moments later, you won't be seeing that the front doesn't look as good when in the car anyway.
-
What about the rear.?
Mine fell off and is currently in the window until I clean the car and reapply... I'm sure it's legal as it's a hatchback and the window is also the most rear part of the car like the bumper...

I personally think that if you are choosing to run a plate in the window anyway of which no doubt you will eventually get pulled over and fined bla bla bla you may aswell run a tiny plate on the front grill. Looks loads better & its no less illegal than what you are doing anyway :happy2:
-
I know what you're all saying :)
At the moment the plate is back on the front grille as I'm decided if I should buy a smooth one, or smooth my own ect.
Once I've done that I'll decided if I want to tie wrap it to the bottom grill, or just have it somewhere else ect.
-
Putting it anywhere else will look poo especially in front the intercooler! Just remove it completely or put a small one on if you really gotta do it lol
-
As above,
Having one in the window is just as illegal as not having one & I definitely know which one of them two options looks better - NONE ;)

This is mine, some people like it some hate it. (my mrs is laughing at me taking pictures of the car)

I'm undecided were to place mine atm too, how did you fix to lower fog cover btw ?? i have open fogs covers and was thinking about getting a 4x4 plate made up and placing there but hadn't found any pics other than the no holes tow hook pics.
-
Suction cups hold mine on well
-
I have suction cups but my plate doesn't bend enough to the shape :( I think I will go for the fog plate option just carry some cable ties I guess
-
Just stick it down the back of the dash

Just stick it down the back of the dash
Tired that but it falls down the slot and then cannot be seen at all :sad1:
-
Which suction cups are people using?
-
I had mine in the dash until a traffic officer pretty much threw the book at me. Not worth the hassle IMO, or maybe I'm just getting old before my time! This is how I have mine now (for future reference when I cop pulls you up on it )

Still, it'll never look as good as not having a plate on the front.

I just drilled a couple of little holes in the fog light cover and screwed it on with number plate screws. Like I said though its a 50/50 love hate lol.
