Hi Guys im really interested in the forge TwinTake, anyone that has had this fitted. have you taken any measurements that you could maybe post up please like air flow measurements etc??
Thanks
-
apart from jonnnyc i dont think anyone has had the twintake fitted on here yet.
-
....
Production versions of the Twintake are only now becoming available and so I'm sure technical info will follow in due course.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of sound clips to whet the appetite : -
I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing the real thing in a couple of weeks time.
-
....
Found a graph (from Forge, not independent) : -

Quote: "MK5 2.0T FSI TWINtake Dyno - 15 peak horsepower gain @ 6200 rpm with an impressive 49 hp improvement @ 2400 rpm and over 100 lb/ft of torque @ 2400 rpm over the stock airbox. Tests conducted back to back within 30 minutes of each other, without even removing the car from the dyno to install the TWINtake."
-
results seem very good there.
I prob would have had one of these had they been more interested in trying to fit one to the vRS when i spoke to them, plus ITG were keen to fit it on mine.
when are you getting yours RR.
-
^^^^
Getting one in next few weeks and will post a review in due course.
First step was to make space for it by moving my BSH Catch Can - Sorted today with stokeballoon's valuable help.
JKM will be supplying and fitting and I want to do before and after dyno plots there as they have loads of data/logs etc on my car. Next week is looking busy for me so it'll have to be after next weekend's meet.
-
I presume that K03 based on the bhp level ?
but WOW that some area under curve gained by the Twintake :surprised: :happy2:
-
^^^^
Yep, K03 DSG comparison between with stock airbox and with Twintake.
The Twintake is getting the best of both worlds by using the two intake positions and greater total filter surface area plus fully enclosed filters.
I've recently spent quite a lot of time researching air intakes and now I understand how the Twintake works it's a no-brainer for me.
-
Love the sound of the intake from the inside on that clip, doesn't sound OTT
I thought mine sounded like a diesel on idle but that one is frankly shocking
-
must admit the improvement in the lower rev range is very very good. you'll notice that in everyday driving as well, I think thats why the fuel pump and stage 2+ is so good, due to the power improvement being mainly in the mid range
-
I,ve had one on mine for a while now...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fd179%2Fmillview2002%2FPhoto132.jpg&hash=01f2d81ea9c9c6d62f1d25a07e88283795b9f5d1)
As far as measurements go I,ve not done anything like that....
It is better than my previous CAI(especially at higher revs)
May i ask what you previous CAI was? Is it going to be worth me changing from Dbilas to Forge???
-
i reckon you will get a huge increase on any ontake you go for tbh mike. especially with the ITG or twintake option. they have a huge filter area in comparison. Apparently the ITG sounds ace on the leon. looudest of the Vag group.
Plus they will al be lighter than the cast iron dbilias, lol.

ITG is very loud on the Leon MIke
....Possibly because the ITG has an open filter?
-
I have no sound deadening either louuuud haha

I have no sound deadening either louuuud haha
:congrats: :congrats:
You might need slightly bigger foam strip to seal to bonnet then?

....Isn't the purpose of the foam to restrict heat from the engine bay reaching the filter?
Also I didn't think that ITG's foam bits were anywhere near the engine cover
-
Not on about the engine cover were talking about the sound deading on the bonnet :happy2:

According to andy @ ITG the ITG sounds the loudest and is most vocal on the seat leon in comparison to the other vag applications

Funny how a Twintake thread turns into an ITG discussion and an ITG thread turns into a Twintake discussion.

monk, I drove Neil's Ed30 with the Forge TWINtake recently (albeit briefly) and didn't find the power delivery difficult at all. I think his car is GIAC mapped.
I'm now looking forward to next week to see how the before and after plots look.
