Title: Best place for a remap?
Post by: Tommytank on March 10, 2014, 08:20:15 pm
I want to get a stage one remap but there's too many places to choose from I live in Gloucester but I don't want to drive to far! Also what mods do you recommend for stage one and what kinda gains should I get from it thanks :)

Welcome along!  :drinking:

A stage 1 map will require nothing to be done to your car beforehand. Really all you'll need to check is the usual precautionary items. Make sure your Diverter Valve is a nice new Recision G one,  check your PCV is ok, Coilpacks are the latter recalled ones and run it on 99RON.

What car do you have? If you have a standard GTI then expect to see around 50 bhp and 80 ft lb torque from a generic map and similar gains from a K04 Turbo'd Edition30/Pirelli.  As for a map, go for the best and not the nearest IMO. As a R-Tech fanboy I'm going to say them but you can't argue with REVO or APR.

Happy modding!

Stealth are a good place to go to, they seem to get good ratings on here. They are in Southam, Warwickshire about 50 miles from you I think.

I travelled a 300 mile journey to Rtech and wouldn't have it any other way

Revo do a fair job for a generic map..as do Apr... Either of these will transform your car...myself I prefer the custom wrote map I have on mine from r tech.....twice the service and a whole lot cheaper...

Is R-Tech as good as APR or Revo?? I want mine done but think the £600 price tag for the latter two is a bit silly but I want as much power gain as possible...

Yes, maybe even better.

The R-Tech vs Revo was discussed the other day, R-Tech vs APR is probably in the archives somewhere. . .

Thanks Gray that is very interesting, I'm defo up for an R-Tech map now after reading that. And also in my opinion £600 is a total ripoff for any map! I would leave the car alone before I paid that

My thoughts exactly. It's all overhead & profit. Big companies, lots of mouths to feed.

I'd rather put my money into a small honest company who just wants to do a good job and build a reputation, not pay for marketing managers & commercial directors and their company BMW's  :happy2:

That's just my view

This was the reason I used Jabbasport (Stage 2 Custom map) and R-Tech (DSG Custom map) for remaps and BCS for exhaust and Volant for intake, I avoided the big companies and their big prices!!

Now if R-Tech were to do a Remap for the MK7 Golf R I would probably be first in line  :happy2:
