Hey, Just been looking at a Bmw 118d, But i noticed this on both front wings. (I know not VW! :scared: )
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimagizer.imageshack.us%2Fv2%2F640x480q90%2F21%2Fnq4q.jpg&hash=ea4ba1169a4562f614af1086f34f5f998769bbcb) (https://imageshack.com/i/0lnq4qj)
Looks like there is over spray or something on the inner side of the front wing? What do you guys think?

Run away......... :jumping:

Thanks mate! What you think then?

Agreed it does look like overspray mate.

To me that looks like its been resprayed, poorly.
So poorly in fact that they didn't even bother to remove/mask around the panel properly which doesn't exactly fill you with confidence when it comes to gauging how long it'll last.
Any other signs of accident damage? I'd be checking the panels around it, or just walk away, 118d's can't be that hard to find unless you've got a very clear spec you want.

No other signs, I've also done a report check on it and there's no reported accidents or write offs, So my gut feeling is, It's had a smash and they have repaired it, But obviously missed this bit?

I've had 5 bmw's over the years and every single one of them was painted inside the engine bay...that looks like it's had replacement wings and only painted what you can see until you open the bonnet.!!!!
Leave it alone, there are hundreds of 1 series for sale best advice is to find another

I only looked at this 1 beemer because it looked nice and was the m sport version, Ideally i want a GTI.
So you reckon leave it alone then?

If you were looking for a GTI anyway I don't really see why the risk on this one would be worth it.
Theres plenty of nice GTI's and 1 Series about for decent enough money, if the 1 Series isn't 100% what you want you have to ask yourself if its worth the risk of buying one with a few problems just for the sake of not waiting a bit longer.
Last time I rushed into buying a car I ended up with something that wasn't 100% what I wanted and eventually hated it, then sold it at a massive loss.

Yeah run away and find the nearest GTI!
