Title: Dual mass stress
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on October 07, 2009, 03:12:46 pm

Cars in for a sintered metal sachs clutch and cover plate.  Gota call off VWR who are supply and fitting giving me
the quite depressing news I need a new dual mass flywheel at £590  :sad1:

Ive had one sent from my friendly and super helpful Seat parts manager for £480 which isnt as bad but it still snatches
my spare funds this month.  Not what I needed with christmas comming and essential mounts and diff to buy!

Anyone else needed one?  Ive only done 20k miles! At stage 2+ probably done 10k.  Any tips on making this one last more than 10minutes?!!!!

My clutch is showing signs of slippage, after I get back from my wedding I will be investigating this very item and hoping I dont need the DMF! :scared:

Should this be a failing item? Consumable?

Having sachs , flywheel, revised forge linkage, VWR side linkage fix, 42draft designs bushes all done.  Instead of the diff i was having my WALK fitted and the lower mount but Diff and mounts might be waiting till the new year now.

eek!
Did VWR not suggest going to a normal flywheel like the southbend one?
usually this is the worst case scenario , most get away with just a clutch.
Youve got me VERY scared now  :surprised:

my understanding is that the southbend serious upgrades arent DMF but yes are upgraded. (but many have issues that thats a bad thing by losing the whole reason for a DNF in the first place...)
If VWR say thats what you need then  :happy2:
