Just a quick question, was thinking about a remap in the future, and I've been told an improvement to the stock intercooler would be a benefit and that the S3 intercooler was the best bang for your buck...
I see darkside developments sell the alloy end one for £315... Is this modified in any way to fit the mk5 or Is it just an off the shelf product..??
If it is, is any one picking them up from TPS or places for any cheaper...??

Darkside actually do their own modified S3 intercooler for £300 which has a slightly wider core.
The £315 one is a genuine item. I don't know how much they are from Audi.
I picked one up second hand for £200. Fitted in about 3 hours following the APR intercooler fitting guide and I used the standard hoses. You just need to cut off the metal ends and use jubilee clips.
People had suggested using the S3 hoses but they are also held on with jubilee clips at the intercooler so no massive difference and the S3 hoses come in at over £100 for the two.

Is the S3 intercooler a direct fit to the Edition 30 apart from chopping the connectors off the intercooler pipes ?
Also would a twintercooler be a better option disregarding money side of things ?
