Anyone know if there's still problems with them?? Heard there was issues with some and they had been recalled, presume the new ones are all ok?

sounds like they can give you sweaty bollox moments
-
????????????????? Lol.
Simple question like, presume its already been covered on here?
-
What's the issue with them then???
-
What's the issue with them then???
Al explained it to me and I read a few bits and pieces about it but not 100% sure, thought maybe some of the experienced people on here could have helped me....obv not lol.
-
its the discs, they are not handed so the same disc for both sides, so the cooling only works properly on one side and they are made of cheese :happy2:
-
makes you worry when they cant get something like brakes properly first time around :scared:

Oooooooh a decent normal response.
-
What would the 'cool' kids recommend then? I would like to fit in so you don't make any more sh*tty comments :booty:

-
If you had answered me question and then continued with the snidey remarks I would have been more than happy lol. Been a loooooong day.

i got ap's... depends what your looking to spend i got no experience with RS audi brake upgrades etc so leave that to someone else
-

How come they're so sh*te if they're just brembos with a RS logo?? Or are there some differences?
APs will be out of my price range like
-
hmm possibly just disc as gazbut said.. maybe there decent with a different aftermarket disc? what do the rs brakes go for?

I think its the discs that are sh*te, not the calipers. IIRC dave specifically did a 2 piece disc for the OEM TTRS caliper, to get rid of the crappy 'non handed' discs.
-

I know a lad who works at Audi who can get them 300 quid cheaper for me that's all mate.
I don't mind buying them and then flogging the discs, but who's going to want to buy them if they're supposedly sh*te lol???
-
it is just the disc which is pony, the caliper is a 4 pot brembo that's used on other stuff like Aston Martin DB9, they work just fine with Dave's disc/carrier combo

is the dave b kit expensive? loba do a similar kit but I've never heard of anybody who's used it so could be still sh*te

Depending on price or what its going to cost to buy new discs aswell.. there is a motorsport spec AP racing setup in the for sale section with new discs.. but that is without me knowing your budget.. allthough maybe audi have done a recall on the discs now
or can your friend just supply you calipers etc with no discs for a good price?

stand to be corrected but pretty sure the daveb kit and the loba kit are actually the same thing :happy2:

I'm a bit weary about buying things second hand when I don't know that much about them mate, so I would rather buy new. Budget will be about 1500.
-
Good idea about just asking about the calipers tho
-
What about the forge set up can get that for 1k new?
-

They come with a more helpful chocolate teapot.
-
Ah right makes sense why nobody has them :signLOL:

Vagbremtechnic make and supply Loba. I also supply the same kit.
It's1250 for the kit. Also comes with new brackets and braided lines.
-
The main reason for the sort of recall was the squealing. Seemed to get resolved by fitting new calipers, discs and pads. The caliper now also comes with that rubber weight bolted to the side just as the S3 calipers do now.
-
k-sport? there decent money.. not many seem to have them on the mk5 though, but are popular any alot of other cars
-
The AP setup is very capable with over 200 kits sold, had a customer do 18 laps at hockenheim last Thursday, it would have been more but they were tyre testing, he drove home on them panicking in case his wife who also drives the TTRS noticed there was something wrong with the brakes - she didn't notice.......
Making race brakes - dead easy, making road brakes - dead easy......making road brakes that you can have fun with on track and then drive home with is a little more tricky
A stock TTRS disc would have lasted 3 laps.....seriously, they are probably ok for commutes etc etc
-
This is the reason there are so many sets for sale i know for a fact that when these are replaced by audi they change the discs and calipers and the old ones are SUPPOSE to go in the skip but not many have !!

A bit more useful than your last few comments...
What would it recommend for my budget then? I can probs stretch to 2k if they're going to be worth it
-
Is is really much of an up grade using just the RS calipers with the standard 345mm discs???
-
About them being replaced makes sense as there is always calipers popping up on ebay, saying of low milage cars.
Always thought cant be that many rs3 owners wanting to upgrade straight away.

Sorry if my quality of advice isn't up to snuff on here, must try harder I guess.....

RS3 discs are worse than TTRS ones, they have a larger offset and fair quite a bit worse.....
-
What car do you have and what do you want to do with it? road/track/race?
-
@betty
Saw your comment on the AP brake kit thread, I don't "hate" TT brake discs.......its a lump of metal
The facts are thus:
They're on suffix H on the disc part number in 4 years, they've never really got them sorted....
There's too much front bias on a TTRS the disc size split is 370/310. My Kit is 362/335mm and transforms the car.
Like for like after a tailchase at Oulton two identical TTRS one OEM one AP.....the OEM was 90 degrees hotter one side than the other, mine were 100 and 190 degrees cooler. Both sides are the same part number.
Anything over 343mm should float that's straight out of the AP racing catalogue. It's why the VWR setup doesn't work on track, it's why TTRS discs don't work on a track.
Notwithstanding not all TTRS dont go on a track, a staged TTRS is capable of 185mph and a dash speed of 150 the car doesn't know its on the M6 / Brands hatch it still has to stop
Warranty replacement of TTRS discs is no longer.they've done the recall they think its fixed. Evidently its not.
Any discs being sold/purchased on eBay or here have been removed by Audi as not fit for purpose
New TTRS discs that are compliant are three times the price of the ones which were crap (they're making the customer pay for the recall) a best guess is that Audi pay Zimmerman €80 a pair for new (unconfirmed but a sensible source)
The casting for the AP rotors is straight out of the SEAT Motorsport catalogue, its a Supercopa part number.
The Road TTRS AP mounting bell and fixing system is straight off most off the VWR Cup cars this year, came second in class at the Dubai 24 and won its class at the 12 hour Mugello yesterday eclipsing LOTS of very expensive racing exotica. There is no harder test for ANY setup other than endurance racing outside of F1
Lots of TTRS references above.... a stock GTI has half the power so won't make the same demands on the stock rotor
In addition
The caliper is as fitted to a DB9 and a Ford GT, it's not the problem, the pad is from an EVO 7-10 and numerous other cars renowned for having headroom when it comes to brakes.
So trying to detach from the emotive and anecdotal portion of what' works and what doesn't ^^^^^^^ here's some facts to set the scene.

Now that was the sort of answer I was after, wasn't so difficult was it :P!!!!
Thanks for that. That has defo helped in my decisions. How much are we talking for some 4 pot AP calipers and your discs?
-
Tell you what get hold of the TTRS/RS3 calipers and contact VRSALEX he sells a fitting kit that will allow you to use the S3/R32 345mm disc

This is exactly what I'm interested in. Will this really improve that much over my standard Cupra set up as its only the calipers that's being swapped over.

Or go for the daveb setup...ttrs/rs3 calipers, daveb discs & pagid rs4-2 pads...these is what I'm going for :happy2:

Yes. So will bigger disc and same calipers. But I think a brake with more pistons will be better.

Don't forget mate that you have to think about caliper clearance too...

What wheels u rolling on mate?

Should be ok under 18s???
-
Its not the diameter its the width of the caliper depending on your offset of wheels and spoke design.

Lol well spacers then??
Just standard 18 cupra wheels (mk2 facelift)
-
Somehow cupra wheels have loads of clearance. My 370 mm kit I was doing fits without spacers. Ttrs with their 370mm discs may just fit fine.
-
Hi guys I'm interested in this kit to for my leon cupra mk2 has stage 2+ Fed up with warped discs on the front and the rear oem rears are not up to the job any idea on price?

Price for the whole kit?
-
Yeah full setup price would be great
-
Calipers around 250-350(2nd hand from eBay)
Ttrs discs around 350(new)
Pads(depending what pads you go for so not sure on price)
Braided hoses around 100
& don't forget brake fluid
Regarding the ttrs discs,a lot of ttrs boys say they are sh:t,warps easily etc etc
Another alternative is to go for the daveb setup which is 1250 for the discs
Not sure if I misses anything out
