Title: Passenger seat belt sensor
Post by: Whitt_tdi on March 17, 2014, 08:19:56 pm
Hi all, new to mk5 golf ownership so just wondering if what I have read and done is right with no other problems , iv had the passenger seatbelt light on constant unless a put the seatbelt in, now I read somewhere on here I think or maybe face book that if you unplug the little black plug under the seat the light will go off, iv done this and it's gone off but my question is is it linked in anyway to the passenger side airbag, ie if I have a passenger in with it unplugged and had an accident would the airbag still go off?

you can code it out with VCDS.
Mine was a bit funny so just removed the coding option.

I believe they would all go off in an accident, where as you may only expected the passengers side to deploy if there is a passenger in the vehicle...I think anyway.

Does unplugging that stop the annoying bong going off when you've only a few munchies in a bag in the passenger seat? Drives me mad.

Best to just code it out with VCDS

the seat belt warning wiring does go back to the airbag control module, weather it uses this for actually telling it someones in the seat set off the bag is unclear as in a front smash you would expect them both to go off.

so easiest way to stop ping is as xjay has said is get it coded out from the instrument cluster
